I have a company interested in one of my domains, vegasbreak.com. Have had inquiries about this domain before. Am not willing to give it away for wholesale value. What do you think the retail value of this domain is?

Thanks for all of your input. We have not started talking price yet. Only one of several of the Companys Partners has contacted me so far. I told him I would consider a lease or joint venture. His Reply was that he did not think his partners would go for that.
I replied back saying that I would confer with my associates (you Guys! ) and get back to him within a week. In the mean time I told him to confer with his partners, I would accept any reasonable offers? But am not willing to give the Domain away.
Heck, I could Develope this domain Myself in a Few years and make alot more than $XX,XXX./ Month from it, if I did it right! So am not sure what to do.
What do you think would be the best course for me to take? Tough question, that only I can Ultimately Answer. But any of your input would be Helpful.
You guys have helped out alot already, any more input would be appreciated. I will definitely be keep you posted as things progress. Thanks!

Well, my take on it is that the domain values (like most real estate) can only go up, so it's entirely up to you.

I do agree with you though that it has tremendous development potential, especially considering Vegas is such a huge tourism city.

I don't think you have a realistic assessment of this domain's value. If you really have a $1,000+ offer for it, you should take it immediately. Just MHO.

Well, vegas isn't gonna get much more popular than it is at the moment so the time to do something is now.

If you have the knowledge, skill and time then develop it - otherwise sell.

I personaly wouldn't sell it for less than a grand, but I'm in the fortunate position that I don't need to sell domains.

Ask for $20k and you will most likely get it, if you are dealing with a company with the funds and the plan.

To do the above would take great deal of effort and dollars. I don't think you are being realistic.

The first question that leaps into my mind is; Why would an existing Las Vegas site want to joint venture with you. Mike, the name is just "okay". I would guess it gets little or no traffic. So, beyond somebody really wanting "that name" it has little value.

I would negotiate as hard/well as you can to get your best price, but your other comments I think are totally unrealistic. IMHO

Keep up the good work, am considering all opinions. Need as much as I can Get right now. And will keep you all posted as this thing progresses. Right now the $20K sounds the best. But I do have to be realistic. But then again if we work together on this we might be able to push up the Value of the Domain Market, which will Ultimately help all of us.

20k is very unrealistic for this name in my honest opinion.

I am not trying to "knock" your name Mike, but this name is average at best. I would personally appraise this name at regular fee. If you can get a couple hundred bucks, I would take it.

Heres a few good rules of thumb to follow. imho....

Never care if you sell the domain....be ready to walk away at anytime. Don't set ridiculous goals...but don't be afraid to walk away from a deal...if they want the name they will be back...which puts you in a stronger position.

Try to research your buyer...check names addresses ect...you won't be able to in all cases as many buyers use free accounts and never make mention why they want a name. What I have found in a number of cases is they slip after 1 or 2 emails...maybe they cc: someone at another actual company address or they end up sending from their regular address. Ammo to dig with. So whatever info you can garner about the buyer will raise your starting position.

General rule of thumb...start high...you can always go down...very rarely and under uncommon circumstances can you go up. try to give solid thought to your high and your low...at which point you walk away...ect.
Don't always listen to others as to name value...appraisals are a dime a dozen...I suppose its easy enough to come to a close wholesale price...but the end user price can be DRASTICALLY different. Most end users won't care about traffic or ppc rev..those are just bonus' they are after the domain. How much is it worth to them? Good question...thats where your research comes in. Of course you can just set a price and call it at that...but that takes the fun out of it

anyhow...theres lots more that can be said if anyone cares to add. Just a feww things to start it off.

Am not too tech savvy yet. But just went to the site the email came from( www.forcestream.com ) and they claim to have clients with Big names; Gatorade, Circuit City, ADM, Kraft, Coors, Quaker, Trip.com,and lots of Fortune 1000 companies, Etc. But their site did not look too impressive nor well Developed. They are based out of Chicago, USA. And the guy who emailed me claimed that his travel agency was based out of Chicago and catered to seniors who booked trips to Las Vegas.
Can anybody shed some more light on this situation?
And Please lets keep this info to ourselves for the time being. Any leaks could spoil this whole deal.

Well Tomorrow is the day that I [email protected] that I would get back to him regarding the sale of vegasbreak.com. I'm not a negotiation expert but have been told that the one who states Price first is the looser. I have not heard from him yet. Should I wait a few more days to see if he will reply? Or should I send him a email that dosn't state a $$ amount for the domain, but is something along the lines of : We have been considering your offer, and would like to know your specific intentions for this domain and Budget? Can anybody offer some solid advice or guidelines to follow? Thanks.
