Hello.

Right now I'm developing little site that allows people to create super-quick, free webpages.

The name I'm planning to use is [word]webs.com. I wasn't specifically looking for a word ending with "webs", but after searching through various lists of names, this is the only decent-sounding available name that I could find.

Now... Given that the site WEBS.COM (previously known as freewebs.com), provides a similar service, (quick, free, online website-building), is there any possibility that I could land myself in trouble from them?

Or is webs such a generic term that it doesn't matter. Like MAIL.

Thanks

Not an expert on this field, but if its similar to regular copyright issues, it would probably have a lot to do with the question of whether people looking for them would mistake you for them.

I would make the design as different as possible and the first word as distinguishing as possible.

Please do not view this is legal advice in lieu of asking a lawyer.

Good luck!

That is a trademark question, not a copyright question.

Yeah, thanks. I actually noticed that straight after posting, but I couldn't seem to edit my post.

Thanks. I've just searched TESS and there's no trademark for "Webs".
So that must mean I'm safe.
