.Biz was supposed to drop to a one year registration requirement today (from 2 years). Enom still requiring 2 years. Checked a couple of others and theyare still at 2 also. Anyone know what the hold up is - or some other lowcost registrars that made the change on time today?

Just took a look at godaddy. They are allowing it. $14.95/year, ouch!

enom has to change their software, and they dont have people in the office Saturday and Sunday (go figure)

Something fishing at godaddy thougth...they also allow 1 year .info.

Its as if you can choose 1 year, but you are paying for two. You can select 1 year info/biz for 14.95.

Anyway.

I think I'd rather pay $14.20 at Enom and get two years than $14.95 at GoDaddy for one! I only had one name I was considering anyhow, so I'll wait on Enom. If I lose it no big deal - it's far down on my priority list anyhow.

Seems like enom is now offering 1 year for .biz according to their homepage.

Correct Marty - they were a couple of days late but got it implemented today. Still seems to be some bugs in the system though. I went ahead and registered a .biz name I had been thinking about (CareerEducation.biz - huge OT # for Career Education - over 126,000).

However after I clicked register (for 1 year - $7.10) it just said "processing" for over an hour (meanwhile the domain was still available for registration elsewhere). Then I noticed the 7.10 had been deducted from my account - but still no domain in my account! A few minutes after that I noticed money was back in my account and Enom now listing the transaction as closed because the domain was not available.

So I figured someone else got it at the same moment I was trying to get it. So, I check out the WhoIs to see who got it and it's me! Despite the WhoIs being correct My Enom account still does not list the domain and the money has not been charged. Since the name is not listed in my account I cannot access the domain in anyway.

Maybe all of this is because of some problems implementing the change to 1-year .biz registrations - though last month I had another weird occurrence where I tried to register a name and was told it was no longer available. The WhoIs had no information for over a week (saying something like No Record found) - then all of the sudden it showed up in my account and the money was deducted.
