Where did the .mobi haters go!?

well clearly you belong on category 2 (that's IF you even have bought a single .mobi)

I bought 10. But im not an experienced domainer, im just a developer that understands that a good domain can make your site development easier, and could be popular with others for the same reason.
To understand .Mobi you have to develop for it, not just look at it as trading names, which it seems some domainers rely on.

:eyebrows:

Hey guys, I think instead of discussing this subject over and over again, let's spend our time and efforts in developing those great .mobi. I think the .mobi owners are the ones that will make it happen, we are in control of the future of the extension. Once developed and promoted/advertised in the news, the .mobi will be a great success. We need to have strong sites under the .mobi and make the people in the street aware of this new extension and its benefits.

.... and make the people in the street aware of this new extension and its benefits.

I think airports is a better alternative if you're going to start preaching :approve:

I mean people that are not domainers and therefore not aware of .mobi.

FOOLS!
While you engage in idle chatter I HARVEST!

Just today I found these Gems untouched:

Beveragesontheroad.mobi
mobilemovietickets.mobi

And unbelievably...SUBWAYSANDWICHES.MOBI!

Get it? Subway Sandwiches! You're on the subway and you want a sandwich, so what do you do? Of course you dial subwaysandwiches.mobi.

Some of you guys haven't been paying attention very well if I can still find these names.

Heyyyy! Duckin' L - welcome back, lightening the mood - some guys have been getting toooo serious....

Duck - hope you don't mind, but I'm on the phone to Subway - they are prepared to offer $500,000 if undeveloped or $1.2M if you're going to develop. I guess the CHEESEBURGER.MOBI news travels fast and they too want to get on the wagon!!!

call me asap - i'm acting as exclusive broker for ya ;)

We can work something out. 15% is probably fair. Please make sure they understand that Buyer pays escrow fees.

In this business, one word "speculation"

I challenge ANY .mobi hater to reg a .com from scratch, and come back to me in 2 months and say they have sold it from reg fee to $5000, if i see this i'll be very impressed! But i doubt it! I rest my kitbag! RN rules!

If we buy one for $3,000 and resell for $8,000, would that qualify?

But you're missing the point. The guys making money in the short-term on .mobi are smart. More power too them.

It's the guys spending money now, convinced that they will make a lot more in the future that we are cynical about.

What i was meaning was reg fee to $5000 in 2 months.

Being cynical about it is ok but damn right denial is wrong, the .com was a baby once, and so .mobi is now. Comparing it's relativity at the same point in it's life the .mobi is far superior. If it's a short term trend then fair dues, take the living p**s out of us if you will. But long term who knows. Personally i dont have my crystal ball at hand but the fat lady hasn't sung yet. I think we should wait a little before condemning the .mobi to death.

Can we agree that a big part of .Mobi's success will be in how much backing the big investers push with advertising.?it's impossible to say it's no good until at least its been tried in public.Yahoo and Google behind it are the main 2 to drive its popularity.

.Mobi

This is a short sighted view and here is why.

If I reg a $8 dot com name and in 1-2 yrs sale it for $5K its because it went to and END USER a VERY possible situation. You may get a profit in two months for a .mobi from a RESELLER, a market that in the yr. to come will dry up as they realize the speculation ment no profit unless it takes off.

And perhaps you dont follow sales but people do get lucky enough to reg a .com name and get $XXXX in a short time, because the EXTENSION is desired. Not a sale based on speculation and hype. Cash in on ignorant resellers as long as you can, happy for you, just dont compare this extension with anything but hype and speculation.

To quote myself...
:)
There is absofu**inglutely no other reason in the fu**ing world PERIOD

Speaking of sandwiches, I passed for the longest time on both hoagie and hoagies, and now just noticed they've both been regged.

Hammurabi.mobi is still available. 852,000 Google. Sure hope nobody gets to it before me. :)

Comparing it's relativity at the same point in it's life the .mobi is far superior.

History is full of such early comparisons. Check out about 2,000 internet companies that no longer exist. See how their stock prices did in the first year vs. Their tried and proven competitors.

Anyone curious how .info turned out ?

Visit domain state and search .info look at their drop auction prices. Tell me if they were great investments. And info is a top 4 extension.

wait cause now I hear State.ST is worth mid-$X,XXX are you absolutely sure about the .info Josh? I must be completely disconnected from the market...I was ready to pay $X,XXX,XXX for a good State.info

I missed the .mobi
I missed the .info
Now I miss the .ST

WOW - plain ignorance from my part, oh well! what can you do.......

Where did the .mobi haters go!?

Not far - Anyone want my latest reg ? AntiMobi.com ;)

I wont go as far as saying they are worthless .... I do see applications worthy of Development : News / Weather / Traffic Conditions / possibly some small Shopping things. But to compare it to .com in any way is a joke IMO.

I'm glad new (and some old) investors have found something they are excited about :ok: But do not press the issue too far .... It makes possible buyers/investors turned off on the whole subject - much like IDN's are now frowned upon by many now. They are worth investing in somewhat - But no one wants them forced down their throat.
