I think you should definitely counter, there first offer usually means they might be willing to pay more,
also watch out for them asking for a paid appraisal, its a scam.

Dont counter anything, tell them that you are not willing to let it go at that price. Make sure you let them know that you plan on developing it. If you make a counter offer, you are only setting limits for yourself. Let them make another offer before you even consider throwing a price out there.

there will be fewer and fewer transactions, less news coverage, and lower valuations...
Lets look at some recent sales shall we?
iSocial.com sold for $9000
ewebsite.com sold for $9500
istats.com sold for $2500
icosmetics.com sold for $2500
irave.com sold for $2288
IMHO $10,000 is a pretty generous offer
Could you get more for it? Perhaps - but when?
Next year? 5 Years? 10 Years?
You could probably sell it and buy 5 other strong names
that could double or triple in value.
The other thing to consider when selling is what are you going to
do with the money? Do you need the money? If you don't have
plans it couldn't hurt to hold out for more however it could
be a long while before another strong offer comes along.
We've scared away a prospective buyer of a typo last year and no
other parties have expressed interest since.

i was also thinking- etoys has been out for so long- everybody knows etoys- doesnt it make it harder to brand when you have to spend half your time fighting off the other brand? (no maam, we are Itoy, not etoys) and itoys would be preferred- i have to agree with webuythedotcom (you need a shorter name

I dont think this is a thread for debates. It's more like one of those things where you give your best opinion, and then the potential seller makes his own informed decision. Obviously not everyone does things one way. If that were the case, that one way wouldnt work.

If 10k was their 1st offer...there is no doubt I would not accept it. I would either:
1. counter back at 3x what I was willing to accept.
or
2. tell them that I was not interested in selling the name at 10k due to development plans... and it would take a significantly better offer for me to change my plans.
In answer to your posted question for an appraisal...I agree 10k to be a fair reseller price. I would say up to 35k for enduser...although if you find out mac is the enduser...you could be in for a much better payday.
