Money's really tight at the moment, so I'd rather hear from someone experienced, before I take the plunge. I'm wondering if you've had any luck with buying featured listings on Afternic or Sedo? As it is, my names hardly get seen on either.

Thanks,

Tom

I paid for the Sedo featured listing a few years ago. I don't remember EVER seeing the domain advertised. I just tried it again about 3-4 weeks ago (I guess I didn't learn the first time) and have yet to see the domain advertised/posted.

I e-mailed Sedo requesting my money back and let them know I didn't appreciate paying for a service that they don't actually provide. IMO, the featured listing is a huge rip-off.

Sedo never bothered responding to my e-mail. I've since moved all of my domains to Parked. The other problem with Sedo is that since they started the auction platform, I haven't received nearly as many offers on my domains.

Afternic has a basic listing and an expanded promo listing. I'd go for the expanded listing, because your domain can be viewed in a lot more places. The commission jumps to 20%, but it's worth it for the extra exposure IMO. I also think an annual membership at Afternic is worth it, because they are owned by BuyDomains and have good sales people to support the whole system.

Actually I just started using afternic a few days ago, and I did get the annual membership and chose the expanded promo on all my listings. I just logged in and saw that one of them had a few views, so I am a little more hopeful about it than Sedo, where I've had names listed for a long time. Anyway, I'm really glad I asked before throwing my money away. :)

featured listings are a waste of time, its probably better to list here if you really wanna sell some things. The biggest problem is that people that buy a featured listing think they can get end user prices, thats not gonna happen. If you think the names have value list them for sale here and you will soon find out what they are worth. Maybe just list them in the appraisal section and ask specifically for realistic reseller prices, since there are always some people that appraise every domain at $$$ or $$$$ but would never make an offer.
