I signed up for an account just to get a slickdeal (Simple Brand shoes). Turns out they run small in size so I'm returning them (customer pays return shipping). Was already on the fence about buying another pair and paying for more shipping. Not now!

I wonder what it will take for people to realize that it's not safe to trust private entities (and governments even less) with personal data.

Not sure this is true, but it wouldn't be exactly something new or never seen before.
