118247.com was sold for €9,800(= $12,580) on Sedo.
Nice sale!
:bathbaby:
Who did buy it?

The 118247.co.uk registrant, Yell Limited

10k is nothing to them.

To them, 118247.com is probably worth 10, 20x what they paid for it, possibly more.

Thanks FYI.
Too mant nnnnn .coms and nnnnnn .coms are available.
How to find gems?

if it was me i would have not sold it for 9800 to them. the guys are big and can afford to pay alooot more.

I wouldn't get greedy, could it be a trademark/copyright issue too?

You can't see who you are selling to! Sedo offers anonymous bidding.

I agree with that. i guess if the seller was from here (UK) he would have recognised the real value of 118 247 as it is the best directory enquiries operator in the country.

I thought that you can not trademark numbers?

Which is why AMD etc could use 386, 486 but not pentium which could be protected.

That domain was soooooo cheap its worth at least 100k to yell.com

Correct. That's one of the nice things about numeric domains. Numbers are "purely descriptive" of quantity and only have secondary meaning if you add other words. All numbers are as "generic" as the most common words and can't be claimed as "exclusive" to any one product. You can have 528 of anything, but only one company can sell a "BMW 528i".

IANAL BTW :greenwink:
