Having roughly 600 of 3D related TLDs (all generic + 3D prefix or suffix) I am getting under pressure to start
development asap.

What I need now is human ressources so I'm considering to go for partnerships with the pros...

GUNNAR Optiks(R) Announces Premium 3D Lens Technology for Gaming and Movies

DJ Press Release Wire
1:00 PM (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Jan 06, 2010 Optical Innovator Addresses Unfilled Need for Prescription and Premium 3D Users
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 06, 2010-- GUNNAR Optiks, the leading manufacturer of digital performance eyewear, announced today that they will be offering a collection of 3D glasses enabled with components of their i-AMP(R) lens technology. Versions will be available for the most widely used 3D platforms in gaming and video. For the first time ever, premium consumers will have a chance to view 3D technology with ergonomically correct and distortion free optics.

Having established a firm footprint in both the optical and consumer electronics industry, GUNNAR's foray into 3D is a logical step for the company. "This is an exciting time for the field of 3D technology," said Rob Aarnes, GUNNAR's president. "There have been amazing advances in the delivery of the media, but we see a massive need for someone to address the optics of the eyewear. Currently most eyewear used in 3D systems is either disposable or of low quality construction. With our expertise in optics and our commitment to the digital world, we see the opportunity as a natural fit."

GUNNAR is relying on components of its i-AMP technology to provide the optics. "While typical 3D eyewear is stamped from a flat sheet of plastic, GUNNAR lenses are shaped, formed and cut to provide distortion free optics," said Joe Croft, co-founder of GUNNAR and EVP of Research Design & Development. "For the amount of technology and effort that goes into the creation and delivery of the content, it is a shame that the weakest link in any 3D system today is the eyewear used to view the final product. We are proud to announce our success in creating lenses of the highest optical quality to give a premium visual experience."

GUNNAR eyewear with i-AMP 3D will initially be available in Q2 of 2010 in configurations that are compatible with iZ3D gaming systems and RealD video. Ready to wear versions will be priced from $89.00 to 149.00. Prescription 3D glasses in both configurations will be available in Q3.

GUNNAR will be giving a first look at their i-AMP 3D technology at CES 2010. GUNNAR representatives will be at the Tritton Technologies Booth, North Hall #5216, and the Monster Cable Booth, Central Hall #13306. GUNNAR will also be attending the PEPCOM Digital Experience.

Any one know who really owns www.3D.COM
?

i do.

Yay for 3D!!! What are you guys planning on doing with your 3d names? sit and wait for end users? seek out end users? list on sedo, etc?

I haven't decided what to do with mine yet... so I guess my current plan is to sit and wait...

The people I have spoken to are all waiting for deep pocketed end users. Silly I think. Hoping to win the lottery instead of banking quick, easy, guaranteed money now at reseller prices.

You only paid $8 for the names people! And the odds of you finding some end user to pay you $50,000 for your oh so wonderful hand regged domain are only marginally better than you winning the lottery.

Darn..I must be lucky.

I've sold over 12 URLs over $5k USD each, to end users.

If it is good, and you can wait it out. End Users will find you!

This is better odds than the lottery!

CES 2010: 3D TVs on sale in UK by April

Three-dimension television sets, the stuff of science fiction, will be on sale in British shops from April this year for between £2,000 and £3,000.

After years of speculation and prototypes, television manufacturers have finally produced models that will work in people's sitting rooms at an expensive, but not outrageous, price.
By October, in theory, 1.6 million Sky customers could be watching Premiership football matches in full 3D from the comfort of their sofa, as well as performances of the ballet. Balls will appear to come flying out of the screen, while viewers will feel they are in the front row of the stalls at Sadler's Wells.

Related Articles

LG, the Korean company, will be the first manufacturer to release its 3D model, a 47 inch LCD screen, expected to cost about £2,000. Viewers will need to wear polarised dark glasses to experience broadcasts in three dimensions.

Samsung and Sony also announced they were bringing their own versions to market by the summer of this year, along with 3D Blu-ray players, allowing film fans to enjoy the 3D spectaculars show in cinemas during 2009, such as Avatar and Up, in their own homes. Samsung and Sony's models use LED screens, considered to give a crisper picture, and are therefore expected to retail for about £3,000 or possibly more.

The manufacturers released details at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas ending years of speculation, when 3D was dismissed as a gimmick by many in the industry.
Sir Howard Stringer, Sony's chief executive, joked, as he unveiled the range of 3D Bravia televisions, "this whole thing is turning in to the CES 3D show".
The sets will hit the shelves of John Lewis and Currys, in time for October when Sky will start broadcasting programmes in three dimensions on a dedicated channel that will be available to anyone who has its most expensive Sky HD package.
There are currently 1.6 million customers who have a Sky HD box. It is not yet clear whether Sky will charge extra for receiving the 3D broadcasts, but the box will not need to be upgraded.
Stephen Gater, LG's head of marketing for Home Entertainment, LG in Britain, said: "No one can escape the buzz and excitement around 3D. We’re witnessing the start of dramatic change in how we view TV – the dawn of a new dimension. And through Sky’s clear commitment to 3D broadcasting, 3D in the home is set to become a reality."

Sky has not announced what programmes will be broadcast in 3D, but it is expected to broadcast live the main Sunday afternoon football game from the Premiership in 3D from the start of next season, along with some arts documentaries and performances of the ballet. The broadcaster has already invested in installing special twin-lens 3D cameras at stadiums.

It is understood that Sky will trial 3D broadcasts on pub televisions during the summer.
Sean Hannam, the editor of TV trade bible ERT, said: "3D has certainly got a wow factor. And it has huge commercial potential. I can see pubs investing in the screens and football fans having a laugh, wearing the dark glasses, and enjoying a big match.

"But I think it will only be early adopters and obsessive tech fans who will buy these sets this year. Let's face it, you won't want to watch EastEnders in 3D are you?"
John Kempner, John Lewis's television buyer, who was at CES, said: "These sets are really exciting. The quality is fantastic when you see a demonstration. And we will need in our shops to demonstrate properly how they work to customers.

"I think quite a few early adopters will want to invest in the sets, especially video gamers. But there needs to be a lot more 3D content broadcast before it really takes off."
Though all the different manufacturers' sets will receive the Sky 3D broadcasts, there is no agreement on the technology used in the sets. While LG is adopting the cheap polarising dark glasses, Sony and Samsung are using active shutter technology.

This requires users to buy expensive dark glasses, which usually cost more than £50 and are heavier than the 80p plastic polarising ones. Active shutter glasses alternately darken over one eye, and then the other, in synchronisation with the refresh rate of the screen using shutters built into the glasses. These shutters rapidly alternate between the left and right eye.

Some experts believe this gives a more convincing depth of field in 3D, giving viewers the impression they can reach into the television set, though some complain they have got headaches when wearing them.

Disney to release Blu-ray Movies in 3D.

Disney, which says it has produced more 3D content than any other major, will begin rolling out 3D Blu-ray titles this year beginning with "Disney's A Christmas Carol" and followed by "Alice in Wonderland" and "Toy Story 3."

Television sets with 3D capabilities are all the rage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, so it's no surprise that studios have waited until now to officially commit to the technology by announcing specific titles.

Hence, Sony also said Thursday that its first 3D Blu-ray title will be "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," which will come out about the same time Sony Electronics debuts its Bravia 3D-enabled LCD television sets.

And Tuesday, DreamWorks Animation said it would team with Technicolor to offer up a 3D Blu-ray version of "Monsters vs. Aliens" as a promotional item to purchasers of Samsung's 3D-capable TV sets and Blu-ray players.

I keep coming across mainstream media 3DTV stories without even looking. Mostly in publications like the International Herald Tribune, Newsweek etc. I don't know if this technology is going to take off or not but the media are latching onto it like they latched onto Barack Obama in 2008.

Well...considering they are developing 3D televisions for the mass market, I would say 3dtelevisions.com is becoming more and more valuable.
