Elliot....not looking to bash your buddy Rick....i see you had very nice things to say about him.....anyways....that's my point...u did not throw up minisites on Lowell..Burbank..etc....nor did you try to get "cheap" and throw up a $250 quick BS site....you did it right....look...i've had many domainers approach me about developing sites.....some generic one word .com's.....and they all look for "cheap" development on these sites....this is what i can't figure out......do that on your 2nd....3rd tier names...etc....but when i see domainers look to develop a million dollar name with a $250 quick "cheap" minisite......that to me is "LAZY" and "CHEAP".....makes sense??
Tony,
You sell web design so I know how you must feel about this and I do see your point of view.
Building a mansion on every piece of beach is not realistic. I own over 100,000 domains now.
Nobody, me included, is trying to say that a mini-site is better than making a full business out of it.
The market I fill is to provide sites that will make people more money than if they were parked! That's it! This really isn't that complicated.
And as I've been saying all along, it also makes a whole heap of sense if you are planning on doing a big development on a name later. This is not like putting up a shack before a mansion. That analogy doesn't work. It's more like laying the foundation before you start construction. If you could launch your large site already having good ranking, you are much better off. If you decide to delay the project, you are still better off.
This is not a competition over who's designs skills are better. I serve a different market than you do. What makes us unique is that we have a huge staff, and the machine in place to pump these out on an assembly line. Someone does the graphics, someone does the text, two people over there doing link building, etc, etc. We build a ton of these every day. Our sales increase every month. Our customers are happy!
who are you to say this is not Rick's "secondary real estate" ?
the guy resales a lot of domains.... why not put up tons of mini-sites in the meantime rather than just plain ol parking.
Thank you. As they climb the serps they go up in value. If you are in the business of selling names as I do, it's just part of the job.
