Soooo....

What's thoughts on LLL .name?

The .name resolves. research I've done goes both ways - that either they're a waste of time, or good for some

I just want a few domainers thoughts....

and to check out my new signature....

Shameless!

in one word: useless
in two words: completely useless.

.name was a great idea by icann, but seems it failed on the commercial side. No one is buying these.
Only hope can be in LLL.name's that can be popular initials to suit the extension

Appreciate that (and the PM)

I can't even find any past .name domain sales on the internet....

First off the search index is hosed because I'm typing in "past .name domain sales" and stuff like that, and Goog's gets it as "domain name sales" haha

You heard of any decent .name sales at all?

I did have one I sold for $50 on E-Bay - ipods.name

I'd have kept it on a parked page but didn't want to get Apple on my arse

Nuthin' worse than an Apple on the Arse....

Within last few months I have seen them promoting the extension pretty heavily -- especially with naymz and other social networking sites. There is some chance of making money here!

I hand regg'ed 3 last night, the first (and most likely only) three .name purchases.

missouri.name
west-virginia.name
district-of-columbia.name

I think it was a good investment. :) The last US states (and DC) available in .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, and .name (I also got district-of-columbia.biz).

Even if the TLD doesn't take off I should be able to get a little bit of money for them.

Laugh. All the other states for all the TLDs I mentioned (including .name and .biz) were taken. If someone found value in vermont.name or alabama.name then surely missouri.name and west-virginia.name should have something to them. :)
Now I am not so sure anymore you are joking...

Ed, just tell us how many clicks you get and how much money... oh and why do domainers still use GoDaddy?

Basicly, if it is for a personal site it can be OK, but there are better extentions. If yo don't care about traffic, then .name will work for you.

and johnn, what in the world are these bars on our accounts now?
