I like eNom for the interface.
I like cnobin for the support and price.
I like directi for the ease.
Directi for the ease??! You can't even pay them for a renewal on line! They have a support system that requires an entirely separate account! If you get a reply about say, wanting to get a transfer code it is liable to be 12 convoluted steps long. I lost widgets.us and tech support.us as I wasn't able to figure out much else to do but to try to catch my own dropping names. Actually as much as not being able to figure out, it really wasn't worth many hours of time. I recently lost soundofmusic.NET and two other formerly $60 domains to Buy Domains as I couldn't log into a SignNames (their dealer or cheap division) as they had changed my account number since SnapNames had sent me my log in info. Trouble was that there was no way to change my e-mail address to
[email protected] from
[email protected] and I had sold my legacy 'Halls.COM' domain. To me, perhaps, they win the absolute dregs award. If they were a McDonalds franchise, they would have their franchise rights revolked. They are an abominable excuse for a registrar!!
Name Scout is another 'winner'. They have a miserable e-mail alias system that doesn't work (for me anyway) and it takes two to three days for them to get rid of it once you contact them. I could never get rid of the e-mail stuff on line even when carefully following directions. Additionally, they delete names TWO DAYS after expiration and then want $175 to retrieve them! My guess here is that as the seemingly prefered Pool.COM partner, deleting domains is actually quite profitable for them. I lost SleepDisorders.INFO with them. I'll buy it back if anyone here has it.
As to likes, Go Daddy and Name Cheap win here. Go daddy has an absurd amount of check out advertising. That is one reason that I like Name Cheap. They don't want to sell you legal services or cherry pop (OK, that one is a
slight exageration!); just domain names! I never want to use a registrar who doesn't provide some way to get a transfer code within your user control panel. Dotster isn't bad once they offer you the $7.95 rate but the control panel is miserable if you have more than a few domains, unfortunately.
