Try to "appraise" this name without a dollar value....

You'll need some info:

1) I'm not selling
2) It's going to be developed into a mobile business b2b site (mole claps hands!!)
3) I don't care if you like it or not.
4) I just purchased the name, and am not looking to find out if I paid too much or whether I got a good deal or not.

Oh, god that was damn funny! Don't ever do that again Dr. I was drinking coffee. It's now on my monitor thank you very much!

This is a "brain teaser", so let me clarify. Try to appraise Anywhere.biz without a monetary value placed to it (including $0).

Come 'on. I know there are some people out there who took their LSATs, MCATs and GRE's.

Okay, I took my GMAT some years ago and scored 650 (with a verbal sub-score of 96th percentile). How may I help you? :D

Excellent...

Here is how you can help me. Determine the "value" of Anywhere.biz without giving me a dollar amount.

OK I'll take a stab at describing the needle in the haystack without actually diving into the haystack...

This name screams mobile business, whether b2b or wireless networking products for the consumer. It's a brand ready and waiting to happen.

It's worth.... lets just say you paid far too little for it ;)

Best of luck Greg. :)

Some excellent points Name-Maker! Absolutely no dollar value given, but some very interesting insight that is probably more helpful then any dollar figure you could have given me.

Although, if I were someone looking to find out if I got a good deal on a name I purchased your insight there at the end was also "helpful"... without even so much giving a dollar figure.

To go further in this exercise with Anywhere.biz and just for argument sake, I could have used Protection.biz. What is the value of the Mobile Industry this name represents? Is it a market that is in decline or on the rise?

How about Protection.biz... Does this name scream anything without putting a value on the name. Is the industry this name serve "saturated" with BlahBlah names already?.... is there potential for businesses to break into this industry with a name like Protection.biz.

What would really help is if someone were actually working in these industries, and gave me a "non-monetary" appraisal. This info would be extremely valuable. Because with that information, I might just be able to market my name better. Would I not?

Protection.biz - everyone wants protection - protection from terrorists, protection from burglary, protection from muggers, etc etc.
Would be very suitable for the personal protection industry (bodyguards) where there can be some big money, but they are probably not so keen on Internet advertising so maybe not the best choice.

Cash-in-transit could be a taker but you'd probably have to aim at the lower end of the market to find someone who needed the name and didn't have a super-corporate well-known name already.

Manned guarding and electronic security are probably the best options in my opinion as they are still to some degree emerging ... more than likely the electronic security and CCTV industry is the best option for realizing a good cash figure.

How'd I do ? :D

Perfect! You probably sweated a little bit coming up with that "non-monetary" appraisal, but it did help me way more than any dollar figure you could have given me. The dollar figure wouldn't have done me any good other than give me a "Boy what a feeling!" (picture izopod jumping in air clicking heels)

btw: If I did happen to request a dollar appraisal if I were thinking about selling to someone inquiring about a name I have. I would hope that you would tell me to have them make the first offer...

Also...your insight as to "emerging" trends in this industry is probably the most valuable to me. As a developer, I need this information. Well done!!
