Grab it if you can: aol.com :).

aol.com will expire in about a month.

It's a pure, three letter .com. No Qs, Xs, or Zs. Good resale value.

It also probably gets a lot of type-ins. It has a 2139060 overture count.

I think AOL loves playing this game every year. They are the registrar so I don't think they will be deleting. Didn't stop someone from putting a snap on it. :)

Could they sue you if you aren't in the USA? Because aol can be an abbreviation for many things and they don't offer worldwide services (under the name AOL), so someone else can have a legitimate reason to register that name... or will it surely be "bad faith" ???

well I want it to stand for . An open love. It will be a site dedicated to people that wish to talk about their love lifes. A place where they can go when they are having difficulites with their loved ones, a place to get help 24/7. oooohhh America online would not be happy when all their customers get that site. how do i put a snap on it. I DISLIKE AOL TREMENDOUSLY!

all of AOL's domain are expiring soon. including netscape.com among others. I don't understand why they don't put a 10 year subscription on it.

I hope it drops, and someone develops it into a one page site that says "KEEP YOUR ***ING CDs , STOP MAKING THEM"

i remembered AOL sued a domain aimster.com a few years back. AOL trademarks AIM as Aol Instant Messaging. It's weird because AOL won the case.

"AOL owns the trademark AIM for the AOL Instant Messenger, and the panel determined that Aimster's use of the term 'aim' in their name was a violation of the right that AOL held in the word 'aim,'" said Timothy Cole, the NAF's assistant director of arbitration. "Because they also used the AOL Instant Messenger as part of their program...it clearly meant that their use of the term 'aim' was intended to capitalize on the popularity that had been established by AOL."

AOL let aol.org drop last year. :) Although, that name was at NSI back then. I doubt they'll be hitting the delete button with the name at their own registrar, even if it "expires".

Is it a myth that microsoft. com once expired and the fee was paid by some guy who temporarily got the domain?

I've personally seen apple.de drop - I could have catched it, but I preferred to watch the fireworks :)
