I know most of the pecking order with domain extesnions when it comes to appraising except when it comes to .org v. us.

which extension do you believe brings greater value for a short one word name? .org or .us

I ask because I have found a couple of 5 letter one word .us names and I don't know if they are worth regging or not.
How do you vets value appraisals of .us names?

.org is for organizations but is more established
.us is for united states and has not taken off too much except for people looking to buy and resell.
I would say .org for now- .us might be better in the next few months or years. not too sure - you could always reg. both and just sell the other later

it usually has to be a better word for me to think it is worth as much as a .org

depends on the name
