Thanks for the input katherine. I agree that banco.es is more relevant and bank may be better, but Id still like to figure out the value for banks.es. Fact is english is the dominant language on the web.
The following english language .es have sold in the past year... Artdeco.es - $16,370 doctor.es - $2,550 free.es - $1,972 estate.es for $2,620 petshop.es - $2,654 etc...
I personally think that banks is better than all of these. Thoughts?

I would be careful about equating search volume with domain value.
Too many domainers are giving it too much weight.
I dabble in ccTLDs quite a alot and I always put myself in the shoes of local consumers. Common English keywords are okay but less appealing when they are not everyday language.
None of the few English .es you've mentioned is developed. I would not be surprised if they turn out to be domainer acquisitions according to the greater fool theory.
OTH Free is a brand name, valid in pretty much any TLD imho.
