well....I am not a native English speaker but to me it makes more sense the plural like for cars better than car
cars.com or car.com ?

Checking Overture and GG results it seems the singolar (BIKE) has much more results.
I`m quite confused since I have told plural version is better like

commodities is better than commodity

It seems to me that is also important how it ´sounds´...

singular or plural - bikes or bikes/car or cars - all of these domains are very valuable in .com or any of the other major extensions.

Actually, compared to cars.com or car.com, the bike.com domain is superior as a singular compared to bikes.com, imho.

One can "bike," as in biking or cycling. One generally does not "car" when they go out for a ride in the car. And although I dont generally hear people use the term "bike" much for the act of bicycling, it is used.

In both cases, one may purchase a "bike," or a "car."

Great domain which will pay for itself in less than a year if the right connections are made and the end user is fairly competent at monetizing a website (to include good usability).

I'd be on the phone to Trek, Cannondale, Schwinn, etc etc. and locking in those commissions.

well nice sell,

Btw. I have BikeShop.Cn "-)

If you want to sell bikes, bikes.com it's the best... but one information site bike.com will be more efficient.

For me if I could choose between the two, I choose bikes.com =))

positive move for the domain industry.
what do u think on this sale/purchase?

Great sale. Great for the industry!

I think bike.com will get some of the bikes.com traffic and vice-versa.

Also I was gonna say pretty much what Salient just said.

Very good point! :-) As Calvin once said to Hobbes, "Verbing weirds language". Apparently it makes it worth $500k too :greenyes:

Generally speaking, would the one with the highest overture score be the most sought after/desirable one ?

Overture with extension

Bike.com is 815

Bikes.com is 2308 (rocky mountain bicycles)

The plural vs singular is a very interesting subject. I have many names with both versions and its always been my experience the plural version is the most desired. Not only that but most often the plural version is the one with the most hits on the ppc sites. I consider my plurals more valuable than my singulars. If I owned Bikes.com I would expect to get at least $750,000 for it based on the value placed on Bike.com

Yes. However, Rocky Mountain Bikes has brand recognition and gets a boost due to people like me who use search engines to navigate the Internet (keeps the browser history clear, plus its habitual now). Not that Bikes.com wouldnt score higher w/ ext, but the numbers arent based upon two domains with similar histories.
