closed briti.sh, iri.sh and scotti.sh - thoughts?

I have these as free email addresses at www.universalpostoffice.com and was wondering a) what they might be worth in the market, and b) how I would get the sites developed as I only use them for email...

They are by far the most popular choice of name at universalpostoffice.com. And that's out of about 150 choices. I think we, as domain people have it sort of ingrained that unless it's a .com it's crappy, but my experience is that non-domain folk don't really have that perception. I have biologi.st, economi.st and physici.st etc. which although again worthless tlds, I think they'll have their time at least as email addresses. Who knows, in the right hands, economi.st could be one of the biggest sites on the net, dontcha think?

That's why I need site developers to partner with me. I just use the domains for email - the web sites are bare. Shame!

But non domain folk will never understand how could one pay $1000 for a domain when they can get it for less than $8 and therefore they wouldnt even consider buying it. So your "case" doesnt realy stand a chance..

You've lost me there my friend. What "case" are you referring to? I simply intimated that the domains have value to me because the customers I have enjoy using them. Have I missed something?

I don't think they're memorable enough.

I base this on the fact that I bought my mother in law a website address that is her surname so she could have a memorable email address, and yet she keeps forgetting it. I keep saying "it's your NAME" but it doesn't seem to get me anywhere.

That's what I was going to say but didn't want to argue the 'memorability' of e.g. briti.sh -v- the mother-in-law's domain... I think I can handle memorising iri.sh and briti.sh maybe 'cos of the novelty value if nothing else... is it that hard?

Yes, they have that value. But you cant sell them for much, cos savvy people dont see any value in them. Thats what Im trying to point out. Newbies find it cool, we find it lame. I wont buy it, but newbie might. However, I would understand a $1000+ price on a nice domain, when newbie will only laugh at you, even if you try to sell him Business.com for $100. Theyll just go and rather get businessomething.com for $7, since they have no idea about how domain business really works.. Do you understand me now?

Completely agree domainaddict. They work great for email addresses as they have novelty value but as standalone domains they're pretty low-end. Thanks for the clarification
