closed CANNABIS.COM ... high type-ins and profitable

My company owns CANNABIS.COM and am curious what others here think it's potentially worth:

Some background details:

* Active site - since May-1997

* 10,000+ unique visitors *daily* to homepage ... about half of that is type-in.

* Is profitable. Generates revenues around $10,000 / month.

* Own most all common misspellings, plus an abbreviated version CANN.COM

My guess is CANNABIS.COM (including misspellings, etc) is worth about $600,000 minimum to $3,000,000 maximum at the current time.

That's a heck of a price range - and perhaps I'm way off ... thus I welcome your thoughts.

I'm not actively selling the domain, but I'm coming to a crossroads where I will either need to get some serious venture capital to take it to the next level or consider liquidation and move on to other things.

Surely it can pay for itself to go to the next level.

None of these are reasonable.... legalisation of Cannabis is a reality.

I would put a minimum price of $500k and upto $900k for the right buyer at the current time.

However, if cannabis was legalised in a mass market like the USA - that totally changes the scenario. I would say possibly $10 million or a great deal more. Which tobacco company would not want to own this domain?

Absolutely.

It's already profitable. I'm already working on going to the next level, but am limited in what I can personally do given my limited cash. With that said, I plan to hold on to it - like anything though, if the price is right, I'd likely let it go.

Very logical, but High Times doesn't have much free cash to spend - their flagship magazine is on life support so to speak, and they've not yet got the on-line world figured out; large amounts of free on-line growing information in particular is hurting their magazine sales...but I digress.

In any event, thank you for reminding me about them - it could be a great domain for them.

It's profitable, so obviously it's worth more than zero

And the DEA knows all about it and visit often I'm sure :wink:

With that said, cannabis *is* legal. However, and a very big however, cannabis is highly controlled and for most practical purposes is illegal for many people in the U.S. to possess/use...

...without getting into a long thread about it, note that the U.S. government currently contracts out with the University of Mississippi to grow and supply cannabis (marijuana) joints to about 8 people...do some googling if you don't believe me - or ask the DEA if you'd like :cheesy:

In short, cannabis while highly controlled is *not* explicitedly illegal itself - splitting hairs perhaps, but important for one to understand when appraising this domain.
