Dictionary says, these are Russian words for Diamond (singular and plural, respectively). Russia seems to be world's 2nd largest supplier of diamonds and a part of Russia's population is very rich. Diamond domains were sold in the past at some very good amounts, starting from Diamond.com that sold for $3mn.

There is a website Almaz.com, and it looks quite popular (search for "Almaz.com" returns around 60 thousand links in Google.
