netidentify has mylast.net, but the .com is owned by a company,

i own mylast.info/.us and myfullname.com, and backordered the rest :)

i offered a insane amount for .net, netidentify still said no :)

what would be my legal rights in getting my surname.com as its already registered (since 98), the domain is just parked at domainsponser and doesnt have a proper website or content, should i contact the owner first or contact icann?

It's so unlikely that you could get it, it's really not worth trying imo. Your full name, maybe. But you'd have to prove that they registered it to make money off of your name, and there really isn't someone with the same name who wants to use it.

It would probably not be too hard for the registrant of your surname.com to find someone with the same surname and use that as 'evidence'. Heck, maybe it's his surname too.

My FirstnameLastname is available in .com / .net and .org.

Hmm.... :-)

I have my fullname.com.
I would love my surname.com, but the guy is not interested in selling...
All the extensions are taken...

I have middleinitial.com would love to have my middleinitial dot com F.com

I have fullname.com, next on the list is Luke.com. Hopefully the owner will accept my $250 offer :-D

My full name is still register free :-D

I highly, highly, highly doubt my last name is.

I have a nieces with name, but I think she spells is Giovanna

I didn't know there were so many people with my last name until I started searching after reading this thread. NetIdentity has my last.com. It's amazing, they say they reserved over 17,000 name-based domains. That's $136,000 a year. I wonder just how much profit they actually make. Why would someone pay to have their email address [email protected], when they can just get [email protected] for free. hmmm

First off, for popular names (first and/or last), you may well forget about Yahoo, Hotmail, or any other free e-mail service. The worst part about yourname@yahoo is that it gives a "cheap" impression, even for personal use. (Using yourbusiness@hotmail is commercial suicide.) I would recommend getting lastname.org or firstlastname.org instead when the .com is not available.

I pay to have my email first name @ lastname . net . It doesn’t cost me that much, less then $20 a year. Plus Yahoo mail stinks in my opinion.

I just bought the wife's fullname.com after following this thread. I've had mine for a few years, but I thought for $7, might as well get the wife's too!

got my name, my brother's name, fiances name, and sisters name....first and last, and we have a popular last name........

I'd Like to abbreviate my name

like JSmith.com

After I found out that almost all the names with my last name were taken I registered mine. My two brothers were quite pissed that theirs were already taken.
