Hi, I'm new to this site and somewhat new to domain names. However, I find it addicting... That is purchasing domain names.

I haven't sold any domain names. I haven't developed any names but I have and interested in either making money off them via affiliate links or developing some of them, but I'm not a developer.

Below I have included a list of domain names that I've purchased recently and some I think are unique and interesting, but that's my opinion. I'm interested in what you all think.

My questions are, am I doing this right? Are the names I'm securing going to have or have any nominal value? What do you all recomend me to do with the names? What about recomendations for affiliates that I can copy and paste into my website and actually get these names so they are searchable and register with google?

Thanks for all your help, here is some of the names I have secured.

bestphilosophy.com
britneytime.com
coffeecrap.com
carlos-boozer.com
electgeorgew.com
focusonthegoal.com
hittheballsergio.com

marthastewartdirect.com
militarykerry.com
morejames.com

pindrop.net
pressureputt.com
pressuresource.com
president-bush.org
reverb.us
swiftkerry.com
technologynation.com
tourofswiftboat.com
whosmonica.com

Which ones do you think are the best out of this lot and what should I do next? Thanks again for your help, I will continue my research reading posts from all of you and thanks for providing such an interesting forum of information.

Hi and welcome to the forum - this post has been moved to the Appraisals Forum as you are asking for appraisals on your list of names. It's quite a list and maybe asking a bit much to get appraisals on them all, however I am sure that some members will give you some indicators.
Check the forums and you will learn a lot and soon be giving advice to others :-)

thanks. I don't know if I was asking an appraisal in particular but if anyone would like to offer an appraisal on one or more, you are more than welcome.

Thanks for the welcome and I have my hands full of research and reading on this site.

thanks for your time.

I don't want actually sell anything on these sites. At least, I don't want to keep inventory and ship and all that crap.
So if there's a way to develop them and sell stuff, let me know without having the above headaches.

Great, thanks Ed.

Other than cj.com, are they any others that are more user friendly?

You are absolutely correct --this biz is VERY addicting. Especially when you happen to find a great deal. You can't stop coming back to find the next deal. I find myself going online in the middle of the night on the offchance of finding a great domain -- and have been successful at this, but perhaps not worth the loss of sleep (time will tell). :undecided

The domains you have are a good start. As for appraisals, I wouldn't personally value any of them greater than $10-20 in the reseller marketplace (i.e., HERE) but you may be able to sell them for 10x that to the appropriate buyers, or develop and market them for even greater profits. d:-)

When buying domains, the trick is to keep in mind that every domain you buy must produce sustaining revenue (read: More than it costs to renew) or it will be a drain on your wallet not just when you buy the domain, but also when it comes time to renew. Good ways to monetize your traffic are to park the domain with one of many domain parking services. Here are a few off the top of my head:

www.fabulous.com
www.domainhop.com
www.sedo.com
www.domainspa.com

Another way to monetize your traffic is to set up affiliate programs. However, the parking services above spend a lot of time and energy matching your traffic to a wide range of revenue generating sites, so unless you have highly specialized traffic, affiliate programs may take more time and energy than they are worth. Experimentation is the key. I personally do both, but as I accumulate more and more domains, the parking route is much easier and more efficient.

Also, if you plan to be at this for awhile, make sure you get yourself a cheap domain registrar and stick with it. Keeping all your domains in one place takes a lot of stress out of life. Feel free to PM me for help if you need it. :-D

That's about it. Good luck!

Thanks a bunch. That's helpful information and I appreciate the time you took to respond. I will learn all of this in time and I will pursue the domain parking.

domainsponsor.com should be your first stop in regards to parking.
