I didn't intend to create some kind of ranking of domain conferences, again, some conferences have a slightly different focus.
I happen to like domainfest mostly because I know a handful of people who will be there. Many of them will be at other conferences as well. Traffic isn't bad, but I always liked competition, and Schwartz had a virtual monopoly for a long time, so that makes me like the former underdog domainfest. They've been catching up though - and I am sure Domainfest LA will be great.
Last year I ended up spending the last hours of the night in some interesting bar with 99% african americans, except 2 friends, Frank Schilling, myself, and one other guy I don't remember. Obviously this could happen at any conference, but there's usually enough "smart" and "successful" people with "excellent portfolios" to discuss with at Domainfest. I wouldn't discard domainfest totally only because DS focuses on ppc. Anyway, most "successful" domainers got rich and built their "excellent" portfolios through ppc, and they are still making major money on ppc. For some reason, I get the impression that the traffic crowd will only admit that when they're drunk, late at night. At domainfest it's somewhat easier to talk about ppc. Imho ppc isn't quite dead yet. Google opening up adsense for domains would seem to support that. AFD/oingo landers are even more basic than Domainsponsor btw
I'd really like to attend Pubcon as well. Adtech is also on my list. They've got a lot of worldwide events, I'm planning to go to Adtech Singapore.
Yes obviously ppc is important to me, and then it's hard to avoid DS completely.
I never cared much about formal programs. I will most likely be sound asleep when they talk about development. I'd rather meet people on a smaller scale, than listen to speeches.

Since, you buy traffic domains, I would assume ppc is important to you.
Considering your passion for Domainfest, I would also assume DomainSponsor
is your main ppc source.

I hope Domainfest's 2009 domain development theme will be beneficial for you.
