This is DOS guys...DOS...not only is it a great combo, a common abbreviation, a use for computer programmers, but it has over 1 billion google results...I think estimating this under 5k is a shame...
Thats the whole thing. No one even remembers DOS anymore. Upto Windows 98, Dos was used quite frequently, but ever since XP (and now Vista), Dos has become non existent for the average user. If I were to develop this site, what information could I put up there? If I put up info about DOS, how many people (other than the ultra geeks) will be interested in it? Very very few.
Like someone said, about 5 years ago, this would've been worth around high x,xxx to low xx,xxx. But now, not so much. If you can find an end user, you can probably get 10k, but a reseller here wouldn't pay you more than 2-2.5k. And if you're waiting for 25k, then good luck. This is one name that'll actually keep on losing its value with time as its relevancy keeps on decreasing.
I think the appraisals for ±3K reseller are pretty realistic. You could get a bit more if you find the right buyer (collector or corporation with the same acronym).
25K is too much IMO, at least in present market conditions. Good luck.
I have also been using computers since late 80's and I must say that this domain would be priceless 10 years ago. I would rather appraise this domain's value with the spanish word 'dos' (number two) in mind and not the retired operating system, (MS)DOS (Disk Operating System).
Still it's a rare domain and I wouldn't sell below $5k.
BTW, yes I was a very active DOS-user! I still remember how I had to LOADHI the MSCDEX.EXE cdrom driver in autoexec.bat to get enough memory to play Doom.
