It's wierd I have a few names that I am the only one in one. At least it says that there is only one applicant and yet they are still pending at nic.es. Hm... Me no likey.

I am happy to announce that eurodns.com came through on a few names that I really wanted.. Thanks freddy so much for your help.

You are welcome. I like messages like that. ;-)
Replies from the Registry coming slowly in, possibly taking whole night.

Well, I got an email from DD24 telling me I didn't get fish.es, but yet I have heard nothing about my domains that begin with c-e. One of them says there is only one aplication, which should mean that I got it, surely?
Think I'll be using eurodns in future!

You should be OK with these - some registrars are slow or maybe you haven't paid yet?

For all those who were interested, my best success came through Gravitynet.net in Valencia. Of the names released so far from the ones that I ordered they grabbed over 70% (about 16% of everything I requested)

Special thanks are due to Christina over there, whose fluent English makes my "holiday" Spanish look embarassingly poor!

They are in the process of translating their site into English at the moment.
Anyone thinking of registering .es in the future, or who is looking for a resellers account would be well advised to check them out. [I am not afilliated - just a happy customer]

Finally congrats to Freddy for doing a good job too - despite the flack he has been getting in some quarters - & well done to everyone who got something in the landrush.

Viva España!

Yeah, I have used several registrars to maximize the odds of getting the domains, and Gravitynet was very successful. They grabbed 25% of the domains I requested. Could seem a low figure, but it's near the 90% of the total .es I have acquired.

I still have ten listed in "sunrise". When I checked whois, 2 were registered, and the rest free for registration. Well, when will this clear up?

Don't be deceived by this guy newbie status , He caught one of top five generic names in my book.
Congrats.

Hi, I got some mails that people have problems with the forwarders.
Our system check first if the domain is resolving correctly, when the names NS are not entered correctly at the Registry the forwarder will reply an error.
It will work as soon the Registry respond correctly the NS on our request.
We updated the error message, now it should be more clear.

I had a list of 11 domains I thought would be good to register. They were available a few days ago. Went to register them today and 7 were gone

Just registered 3 now. Will see how it goes. I really don’t want to get sucked into the .es game.

If you have good spanish words or terms I think they should
do well over time. Spain is a country of about 40 Million.
Including central/south american countries the spanish speaking
world population is about 500 million, but I don't know if .es gets
a lot of south american traffic. Having a spanish keyword with .es may help
in search engines though. I notice at Yahoo.es you can search by
'total web' 'spanish language sites' and 'Spain sites'. IF this is the same
for other Yahoo's in all spanish speaking countries, a good .es could
get picked up in a targetted search for spanish language sites.

It doesn't matter how many people in the world speak Spanish, they are not in Spain. Why should an Argentinian use .es for his local market? Spanish market is defined by the number of people using Internet in Spain and nowhere else.

They are and they do. I have quite a few .es now and they aren't just getting hits from inside spain.
