Hello EveryOne,

Just want to get a feeling about the (LLC & Inc) domains that we have acquired. All of these "terms" used in these domains have Top overture ranking anywhere from 250,000 to 4 million w/o LLC or Inc.

Google ranking are in 'tens of millions' for these terms.

The reasoning behind acquiring these domains was that they can provide an extremely popular business phrase to the owner to start with on internet and off internet. This can be good for advertising anywhere off and on the web like Adwords.

All comments/suggestions are 'very much' appreciated.

Here is the list (113 domains = 86 LLC + 27 INC.) :

Very interesting. Possible confusion with the .com without the "LLC".

inc would have been much better. anyway, i don't see a lot of milk and honey in this at all. most likely 0 traffic, besides, can't such named companies legally pursue these names from u with icann?

The issue of TM violations was discussed with an attorney. His views are that all of these terms are generic terms which are used in hundreds of domains in combination with other words/terms such as "Inc", "Corp", A1, My, Great, Online, e, i, company, etc etc

So the trademark violation will happen with all of these (words/terms such as "Inc", "Corp", A1, My, Great, Online, e, i, company, etc etc), and not just with 'LLC' alone.

And then there are many other things to look at such as:

-when the trademark was issued,
-when the plaintiff registered the 'generic term' domain,
-most generic/dictionary words can NOT be trademarked, etc etc.

So the feeling is that we are with a thousands of other people in the same boat who are using these 'generic words/terms' in their domains for years.

So taking our chances!!!....lol

Thanks for your comments guys.

Sure you can take chances, you may be right too, but companies with deep pockets who want to go after you, will do so irrespective of whether they r right r not.

Good luck :)

Yes, you are absolutely right.

In last 6 years I have dealt with about 5 such notices from Big-well-known companies asking us to surrender the domain to them.

But no one has ever succeeded so far.

We never reply to these notices ever, and every time we get such notice we file reverse-cyber-squatting/harrassment complaint against these companies.

No company has ever asked again any thing and we never surrendered any domain.

Thanks,

Agree, most all of your terms are quite generic. Trademark issues minimal (in my opinion, I am no source of legal advice). You must establish the concept in order to avoid confusion with the "root" .com. You definitely have the market cornered if you can do this.

Infact what you have said is quite right regarding establishing clear concept.
Agree with you 100%.

Thanks for the comments.

Surely many of these are not yet taken, so you may do well to market your domains to fledgling not-yet-named companies. This may be difficult to do, but if you can find someone looking to enter into the marketplace, they can buy the domain from you and name their company accordingly.

They don't have any overture rating at all with the LLC at the end, do they? It seems like a long-term investment. It's a little like buying property that's "near" the ocean so that you can tell people you have "almost oceanfront" property. It might pay off, and you may get people who would have liked to own the .com. It'll take some marketing, though.

vast majority of users don't know what is llc, so it would be a high concept 4 these companies to market their unmemorable online identies to them this way.

i feel that would be akin 2 someone having domains entitled businessffr.com, casinokkl.com, phillippinesvvr.com

having said that, apparently one such llc domain has been sold recently according to the latest sales @ dnjournal; so in the end it won't matter - even if u r able jus 2 sell just one of these domains, u will still be able 2 make a profit and be ahead.

Some of my first domain names sold were

icInsurance.com
icDoctor.com

I had them for a year and listed them on ebay. I ended up selling them for about
double my money and time.

The limited corp is cool and without a doubt a nice way to control a part of the internet. Alot of business are llc and public, and finding the market place should be easy
I bet you get traffic on your domain names as well. I don't think people are as dumb
as some of these other domainers are stating. Anyone in business likes to shift liabilty
And hide there true idenity from sue happy lawyers. I wish you luck and like your open mind in the domain name industry. People forget the internet is changing everyday, It would be wise to change with it...

I agree with most of your comments. Inc names were in demand for a long time and LLC names are also picking up now.

Thanks.

One of my domain www.HostingInc.com gets offers all the time, so I agree with you but LLC's are also picking up these days.

Yes, I just read about that LLC domain sale this week at DNJournal.com report. It was UsedCarsLLC.com that was sold for $1500. Not bad!!!

Thanks for the info.
