Sometimes you can get away with obscure ccTLD extensions. Examples of this are whois.sc and fastmail.fm. However, you might think more about venture capitalists than 'virtual community'. Very hard to value unless you do something with it, but definitely worth reg fee to start to develop it.

If you are not well educated on this forum hosting your trying than id say try doing other kind of hosting on the domain.

Or go with venture capitolist.
