its a work in progress so some links may be dead ends but it would be nice to implement the right kind of stuff so it ranks well when launched.
also somehow i seem to have gotten a pagerank of 5 with almost zero content. any idea how that might happened and how i can work on increasing it even more?

Cigla looks like you are getting a nice boost from the Tupac inbound link...
Anyways , The site has a very professional look.Unilke most of my sites. Your problem is the same as Byliks though..you have very little text for google bots to read, in order to place you.
I went to
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ and as you can see on 700 some searches for "hip hop dvds"
So while you want that traffic , it's really not enough to design your whole site over ....dont use use hip hop dvds " as your main keyword..use it asa secondary keyword.
The keyword phrase "Hip Hop" is searched 196,000 times a month BUT if you then go to Google and search for " hip hop" you see you would have to beat 3.3 Million pages to get ranked somewhere inthe first 2 pages..
Do me a favor and look at the first few websites under "hip hop" look at the backlinks .. you see it takes hundreds of high PR sites linking to it and the second one took over 1000 links pointing ! ..thats how manyb links you would need to rank on the first page for that Keyword phrase.. "hip hop" ..
SO while that is certainly an admiral goal.. thats a ton of work..
The object is to use oveture inventory and find some keywords that relate to your website that have fairly decent searches and at the same time those keywords have the least amount of competition...
Have you considered a keyword phrase like "hip hop chart" 5000 + monthly searches (plus all the other SE's).. You could rank pretty easy on that term.. it only has 217,000 google results(competition) other than Billboard which has the top spot ...do the same research and you see how much less in bound links you need...
The searches are for music ..but you could easily translate that into a charting of dvds..hip hop movies/dvds have a top ten or something..
Thats just one example .. but you see the general idea...find keywords/ phrases that are solid but not necessairly the top keyword..keep looking for 2-3 good keywords that you can use like that AND that have little competition on Google and that relate to your web site..
Take those keywords and keyword phrases.. pick the one you want to use as the MAIN keyword and use that one for your title.
Take all the keywords and add at least a few paragraphs of text for googlebots.. feed the bots...just rememeber that..feed the bots.. your site looks great but the bots dont care..they want text and links.
Your outbound links are perfect ..you are linking to a high quality site and that DOES matter..
So ..
1) find 2-3 Keywords(that relate to your site) with good searches on overture and at the same time have the least amount of competition on Google. You want to use "hip hop" but use it as a second or 3rd choice
2)MORE TEXT... Incorporate those keywords all over your site in good natural way...dont just stuff your site with those keywords..the bots are getting smarter by the day and you will get caught..eventually.
use your main keyword in the title and give it the highest "frequency" on your site.
3)get more links .links win out even over content..thats why I think Google is flawed..but thats the way it is.
"
4) use your movie/dvd Titles as more keywords sprinkled through out you site,, set-up dedicated pages for those.. as in final destination 2 " use them more than once..that will give you an edge over the site's that only list them once..(which most do)
So on your front page you have "final destination 2" linking to apples trailer , maybe widen that cell and split the cell..on one side you have the movie titles pointing to the trailers the other siide you have the movie titles pointing to html pages with small writes up the movies..more pages are always good ! And they are relevent to your site..
The main thing is to sort out for yourself which keywords you want to be found for and learn to incorporate..to pay attention to making sure you are using them correctly in your site.
Google changes their algo all the time..the rules change on a whim ..and you'll be the last to know about it..
These guys are the pros on Google..
http://www.webmasterworld.com/index.htm
Getting indexed in Google is easy.. getting high ranking in very competitive keywords really boils down to LINKS.. inbound rate for more..but outbound also matters, content matters.. but it will always come back to links..
Thats the Heart of Google..links..
I think it is a flawed algo because the the cheating is rampant .. but until something better comes along thats what you have to do..
If you want to rank for "Hip Hop" then it is simply a matter of getting more and btter links than the next guy..al things considered equal content wise..
Good Luck...
