Upgrade distributed in virus like fashion ---> Fraud

Keyword service sold as Domain Names ---> Fraud

I can't get to any of the sites unless I install some useless software from a website that can't spellcheck their pages.

Many people have tried it so far in many different ways in the last few years and many have actually lost a lot of money registering these non-existence domains.

I hope sanity prevails...........before this company also rips people off just like many others have including the .*ex idiots.

Like people really going to download spyware type pluggins to view your sites.

Not a true fraud, atm, as the domain name registrations are free and you are not obligated to pay anthing.

Misleading, yes. The domain names will not work with most browsers. In any case, you can still register them using a free e-mail address (in expectation of spam), and if they don't develop (who knows) all you lose is a few minutes of your time.

Most likely nothing will develop, as this is not so "new" as the press release would lead you to believe. If that's the case, then you just let your names drop and you can return to ICANN approved extensions.

You're not out anything if you just register some names for free, as far as I can tell.

yeah, crap, they also say:

i wud probably not consider these like a real deal, if somebody else, not dcg would start that..., time waisted, they even didnt use spell check for their website info ,

Think logically, people need to have this special dotworlds.net plugin for it to work. Many other companies have tried this before and it won't work because it can't. Lets just say that this one actually, partially takes off.

A major marketing company who will be using their URL on national TV ads, etc.. wants to be creative and register their product called "ZylaTech".

So they go to new.net and register: zyla.tech

A few weeks later they start to get upset, realizing that only .00001% of the population actually has the special browser upgrade installed that allows them to make the dotworlds URLs work.

They think hard, and find there are about 10 other companies offering this type of domain creation service out there. So they go and attempt to register the SAME exact domain with these other places:

DotWorlds: zyla.tech
Company1: zyla.tech
Company2: zyla.tech
Company3: zyla.tech
Company4: zyla.tech
etc....

Still with all of them registered, new companies spring up here and their offering the same service. They have to constantly watch day after day for each and every new little company that springs up offering a browser install to reg the same exact domains at their place instead!

When it's all said and done, the national brand has registered their EXACT SAME domain name over 100 times, yet there are still 25 other services at which other people already took the same domain before they did. What a mess! And still, their records show that after all of their national advertising using their totally hip new zyla.tech URL, still less than .00014% of the population that tried typing it in actually got to it from one of the various, hundreds of services offering registration of the same exact domain.

At the end of the day, there needs to be order to prevent such confusion; somewhat similar to how a government runs a country. Many people may not agree with or like that order, but it is needed. In the domain industry, we call that order ICANN.

You get free domains, you get all free email and you even get free hosting with it.....I registered quite a few

It works fine...in fact so fine I am surprised .....the upgrade to browser is no problem at all (just like any other upgrade eg flash, adobe etc. Just to be sure, I got some friend to try it and nobody had any problems. we even checked for any viruses etc and we find it is totally clean. Being sceptic is ok, but maybe a bit more investigation or trial is called for before dismissing it outright.

You can see this is a global system (it looks to be pretty big also) by the number of different websites from usa, germany, uk, china, etc etc and I agree that -as already said above - as they are transferable that you can sell them. So I am stocking up......you never know...stranger things havee happened...buy for zero and sell for something = low risk to me and I could do with retiring early!!!

you can see google is already withdrawing any bad stuff about dotworlds from their search engine .......there are notes on google search engine such as "In response to a legal request submitted to Google, we have removed 3 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read more about the request at ChillingEffects.org". .....etc and there are more of these notices on different pages.

I think this is following on from that Seigathaler case with Wikipedia that got so much attention. Google doesnt withdraw anything unless they are absolutely forced to and risk getting sued
