Hello, everyone...I hope I'm in the right place.
I bought 900+ domain names back in the spring and I am so bewildered as to what to do with them. I have been researching on the web to make money from these and I'm so hopelessly lost. Everything seems so complicated. I can't seem to tell what and who's legit from what's a con job. Many of my names are political, latino, wii, and others are "generic" Should I "park" and how? How do I advertise them myself? Some of the contracts that sites ask me to sign are so onesided for them that I'm nervous to commit to them. I'm even confused on this site as to how to use it. Am I in the right place? Asking the right questions? ........................Do these sound good?

Where do I begin? Thank you so much!!! (sorry, if I'm in the wrong forum)

Asking questions is the best thing you can do. You should park them and see what kind of traffic they get - and they can help earn back your investment money. Knowing what kind of traffic and revenue they get can help you sell them later as they will have a sort of known value beyond just the domain name itself.

I like your political ones btw except - 2008DemocraticNationalConvention.com just a tad too long!

To park you can pick one company like parked.com or namedrive.com and follow their instructions. As long as you don't click your own ads or otherwise boost traffic to them you have nothing to worry about in regards to their terms of service. You will have to change the DNS settings for your domains at the place they are registered in order to be active at the parking service. Again the parking service companies have great documentation on how to do this.

Try picking out the best name and selling the crap and do yahoo & google
search on each domain to see what you find!

 Thank you for replying

Does one place pay more for parking than another? How do you know if you are being paid properly?
Where can a person list all their domains so others can see them without me being tied to a contract? Or if I do a contract, who is considered a good company to work with? Who do all of you use and recommend? Should I list some in the classified section of the Domain Name Journal? Where do the buyers look for names? Should I start my own website? Is this cheap or expensive? Oh. btw, I also own 2008dncconvention.com and dncconvention2008.com. ;) Thanks.... Please feel free to advise in any way you want.

It is not a good idea to enter in the domain name business by buying 900 names at a time without previous research. I suggest you as well to park them and research about the traffic they get so you can decide which may be valuable and which are simply gargabe that do not even worth the registration fee.

However park is not the only thing to do, you can also research in google/overture about the keywords of your domains to find out if you have any valuables keywords or a good generic domain and try to develope a small site.

Another good idea is to create a txt or excel file and ask for appraisal help people in this subforum, so you can send list to those who are really interested in helping you... because I think 900 names perhaps are too much to paste in a thread.

Generally I don't like long domains with years, only I do those related with really big events and only containing a city and year or a very generic word and the year... (olympic games, world soccer games, elections...)

From the extract you posted I only liked a little latinaforo.com but... it is just my opinion.

I can not accurately tell you which park system works better or pay more; I use Sedo and NameDrive and both works well, Sedo works better with some names and NameDrive does with others. But there are plenty more parking sites I haven't tried.

Good luck!

:help:
I should never have bought without researching all of this first. Thats why I'm in this predicament. But I'm hoping to make this work and I have some great(?) latino/hispanic names about voting and lots of other political names for the near future. Many other kinds too. I would love to make these work but I know some are so-so and I need to decipher the good from the bad and I don't know how.
Like xoxoxo.biz...any good? VoteforBarackObama.com... fair or great?
Welcometothegop.com and Welcometothednc.com....to long or okay?
Also, I didn't understand the reply about starting my own sites...how do I do that? What is a txt file or excel file? How do I do those?
What would any of you do if you were me to make these work?
Again, thank you very much.

The domains you listed aren't great ones, but there may be some potential there. If you just went out and bought 900 "available" domains then they probably won't be but so good. There are lots of places to park in order to see if they get any traffic. My ParkQuick.com site and Howard Hoffman's PPCIncome.com are two sites that compare different parking services.

I'd recommend that you look more at expiring domains rather than just buying available domains. You may want to carefully track the ones you have and choose the best ones to renew.

if all 900 of your names are like those then you might have wasted a lot of money. I would just park them all on sedo.com for now and see if you get any offers. It is free to list them all there. Theres a lot of information on the forum to help you find the right kind of names to buy. its probably best not to register 900 names from scratch. I would buy names off of people on the forum, sedo, ebay, tdnam, etc. Use tools like OVT and google to help you also.
