One of my sites wasn't working so I called GD to make sure everything on the registrar side was set up properly.

The call took 10 minutes. Assume 2 minutes to go though the menus and enter in my customer ID number, 1 minutes to go though verification with the rep, and 1 minute to check the domain. What was the other 6 minutes?

Sales pitches.

"I see you have a lot of domains expiring - do you want to renew them?"

No.

"Are there any domains you want to register today?"

No.

"I noticed your domains aren't with GoDaddy do you want to sign up with our hosting service?"

No.

"I also noticed you have a lot of domains expiring - do you want to renew them?"

I just said no.

"Do you want to sign up for our reseller program?"

No.

"Do you want to sign up for our domain discount club?"

No.

Of course, they didn't ask these questions at the end - they asked before and while checking with my domain.

I can see maybe asking about the expiring domains but come on! It's almost to the point that GD has OCD!!

Just more justification why I dropped them a few years ago for Moniker.

Ed, you mean Bob didn't get on the phone himself to talk to you after the first couple of no's? :D

I've been moving my more important domains to Moniker over the past few years.

You're right - I doubt his voice is that high pitched, unless Bob is short for the female version of Bobbie?

Edit: A few minutes ago I got a survey email from GoDaddy. I didn't take it out on the rep - I'm sure she's just doing her job but I did mention in the comments that it was rahter excessive to spend more time trying to sell me add-ons as they did working on the issue (well, there was no issue, I was just checking on a domain).

I guess these add-ons aren't limited to just registering domains!
