I just received an email message in which the author states that I'm the owner of 17143.info

I didn't register this domain, so I checked the WHOIS-data.

I was not little surprised to see that the WHOIS-data were mine...
Although I'm 100% sure that I didn't register this domain.

Anyone who has experienced something alike ?

Would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,

Some registrars like Enom have registered .info domains on behalf of customers who have the domain in say .com - Enom give it to you free or you can elect to delete it - probably that's what this is.

Yep, the .com is registered to the same person, through enom.
