yes, because .eu was a mega-sponsored extention wasnt it?

bad comparison.
.eu had alot of backing. There was ALOT of news coverage in Europe.

To be honest with you your regular consumer doesn't even know about .info etc. They are just familiar with .com and possibly .net .

To have an American memorize .mobi won't be easy.

Sometimes people need to use pure common sense and not worry about who's sponsering what ! Most didnt even have a fair chance at .eu's and lets not even began to laugh at the .mobi reserved list

last two parts are true, but .eu's "backing" doesnt compare for 1 second to .mobi... it just doesnt.

like someone said in a thread the other day...i cant see all these companies agreeing on such a goofy name ".mobi" if they didnt have something else in mind besides just assuming it would get memorized..

of course it doesn't. .mobi was dead in the water from the start.

Every single premium name is on the reserved list to be auctioned off to the highest seller. I can smell greed. They will probably not sell them on pool. After flowers.mobi sold for $200k at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. don't expect good .mobi names to be a bargain. All the .mobi names on the domain forums suck.

and yea..... .mobi reserved list is great. I used the list to look for different niches of keyword IDNs. (non main terms that were similar to the ones in the list)

Thanks .mobi!

same here, but i applied it to .mobi..... its great that they reserved names that are more commonly used in singular or plural form...and they choose the lesser common one for some reason and leave the more common ones for me or someone else to reg.

thanks .mobi, and to the people that thought every good name was taken... thanks

And rickkumar is still looking in disbelief at the type of money the Japanese are spending on online ads

rickkumar said:
" hardly any one will pay for IDN traffic in case they get some "

This gets my vote for the hall of shame

Break that down for us rickkumar , does this mean that 80% of worlds population doesnt buy things online ?

From the amount of F$ Acroplex has it seems that he is a fulltime forum poster.

National Enquirer News

Acroplex is really registering IDNs. He posted in this thread today. http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=188985 He tried out the new DNF IDN tool. He doesn't want anyone else to register Greek domains so he can have them all for himself.

Who are you Dutchie? I don't know you. My iTrader feedback speaks for itself. I don't need little brown nosed minions to showcase what I'm worth. I've been around for years, have successful sales and a well-established profile in the domain business.

Who are you again?

Oh yes. Someone that lives in Holland and didn't like my comments in another thread. So you come here to stir shit thinking I will sit and take it? :-D

Dutch boy. Take your finger off the dam.

As I said, your ego takes care of your credibility quite effectively, I have nothing more to say and I expect nothing in return.

Feel free to stay away from this topic, also put me on ignore. Two wonderful choices.

Sorry little man. Try playing this game in your own sandbox. In the big league baseball you will get your knees all bloodied up.

Don't tell people to buy IDNs which has almost no value and hardly any one will pay for IDN traffic in case they get some.
QUOTE]

It not unusual to get clicks from Japan worth several dollars. Google pay Namedrive, they pay us. No, great mystery.

Acroplex is right, IDN is a non-sense. Café.com is not cafe.com, but are you able to write *, ü, ß, ž ? No, and that is exactly why it cannot work. If any German, French or Polish company wants to be global, its domain name won't be IDN...

You have proved nothing and impressed no one. Inform comment is much more effective. If people can type what the same terms the search into the address bar and it resolves of course it works. Overture scores are the key benchmark of domaining. The Overture tells us that everyone searches in their only language. The only reason that nobody searche is that Microsoft have single handedly deprived half the World of that capability for several years through abuse of a dominant position in the browser market. That will be resolve when either IE7 replaces IE6 or equally when FF or Opera do.

I am not anti-idn. If it suceeds that is good for many idn domainers.

The main reason I have no idn's is simply because it is very tough to make money on the-web even if you are in an English speaking nation and only using standard ascii domains so it would seem to be immensely more difficult to achieve success with a foreign language, especially if that language is not native.

The difference is quality. I have domains in my portfolio whose English equivalents would fetch millions of dollars each.

Forget it, you'll never convince Acroplex on IDN. I had arguments with him two years ago. He has had the information available for ages, just does chose to believe it. Even if you show him your pay cheques when they roll in, I doubt whether it will make a difference.
