7. I jumped into the domain registration business game quite a long time ago. Not waiting on new "trends" to make money.

Trends? idns are not a trend. When Microsoft introduced a Chinese version of Windows 3.1 in 1995, was it a new trend??

Just because you know Greek doesn't mean you stand for all languages. Greece is a tiny country, people can't survive just knowing Greek.

Greece managed to survive all of you barbarians for centuries; you think that without our language you'd be here typing in English, or rather, you'd be up a tree fighting for berries?

I quote facts about technology and progress and all you have to say is some inane comments. First of all, I don't think you and I communicate in Greek, but in English. You'd be *lucky* to learn Greek the proper way. It requires a larger brain capacity that does not befit an IDN'er :-D

Oh I am sorry. I meant to say "fad".

Acro you really dont mind looking like a fool do you ? I pitty you LOL

You are a really good tap dancer have you ever thought of doing it for a living ?

Im still waiting for you to take off the dance shoes and put on the shoes of the natives or is that to difficult for you ?

1. If ICANN and Microsoft were Japanese companies what tune would you be singing ?

2. Then tell me how excited you would be when you find out many years later you can now access websites "domains" in English ? for example you been tying in 日本語.com for 5 years to access DNForum.com , Now because of IE7 you can type in DNForums.com HIP-HIP-Hooray !''

Your answers were not sufficient the first time ?

And dont rely on your join date or trader rating & post count to allow you to aviod the questions !

My crystal ball tells me you wont answer the question , just like you have avoided all the other facts and questions you cant answer, now that i have attempted to take away all your outs im really waiting to see how you beat around the bush this time. Just answer the question or say you know what thats a good point, you will gain alot more respect around here by doing that then by saying who has more sales because in reality you have no clue what i or we have done or what we are apart of.

Hello...have I seen you here before? You certainly sound confident for a newbie. You obviously are in love with IDN domains...and Acro feels differently. Trying to make yourself come off like a bigshot really isn't working, just accept the fact that you are wrong and Acro is right so you can go about whatever business it is that you do.

and your point is what exactly? Making up illogical examples isn't really the best way to build a case for something...

one thing I do know is that all my friends type in English URLs intuitively and I consider them day-to-day people.

It's certainly much harder to type in none-English languages on a standard keyboard.

Sorry, a lot of idners are not europeans or of european descent, nor do they speak english as a first language. I didn't know "ABC" or a word of English until elementary school.

Please take a look at this non-english domain forum:

http://www.eachnic.com/club/

Take a look at this subforum: http://www.eachnic.com/club/forumdisplay.php?fid=2 -> translates as Chinese Domain Subforum.

In China, they do not call IDNs, they call them "Chinese domains"!

Some facts:

Largest Domain Websites:

English ("international language") - DNF - Threads: 175,948, Posts: 929,376
Chinese - Eachnic - Threads: 105,147, Posts: 794,095

Current Affairs:

The point about IDNs is that the Anglo Saxon (and European) influence has started to wane, and the future would not be in English. This shift will happen in about one generation. If you hold Asian domains and if you just had your kids, you can buy a house with your portfolio by the time your kids graduated from varsity.

If this were actually true, why are there over a Billion web pages is Chinese Characters. Is it simply because the cruel totallitarian government forces them to do it, when they would really rather post and read in English?

Yes, the whole World is just waiting for the day when Acro teaches them all to speak English, (not sure why he would do that, as he claims to be Greek).

OMG, only a few hundred people used English URLs back then in 1993, so why would people want to use alphanumeric domains when you put can input 12 digit IP address? Surely, it's faster to use the numeric keypad to type number than letters!! :(

Surely one must use some common sense when investing?

Btw, note this:

China's reserves diversification report deals major blow to dollar
http://www.gulfnews.com/business/Markets/10081902.html

The US dollar is going to fall sharply against world currency in the near future. I've already written off part of my ASCII investment or US based PPC in preperation for this. In fact, i've lost about 8% of my investment in ASCII names just from currency movements the past one year.

Interesting. Some basic information I didn't know or hadn't thought of. Thanks. If the Duck and you could keep from slamming the US and just present these types of information tidbits, what you say would be easier to absorb.

Well, i do not think i've over reacted, but if you quietly consider the facts, you would see how sweeping this thread is - "IDN's dropping like flies" - which certainly warrants a strong reaction.

Actually, if you ask Duck, he would say i'm more than delighted if such sentiments exists, drop them so i can catch, but once in a while, the truth needs to be said.

I think many of us are trying to give facts about IDNs. Many of us invest in languages of different countries. We all believe adaptation will occur at different times.

IE7 was the biggest thing holding the whole market back. We all invested before IE7 was released to acquire premium domains.

As far as what makes me know if people will adapt to using IDNs (Applies to the Japanese market from my personal experience)

1. Japan has reduced the price of IDN dot jp to many registries to less than $10 just to get people to develop & it's working I read Japanese bloggers write about getting new domains for their blogs.
2. The Japanese search Engines (Google, Yahoo & Goo) made press releases early in the year that they are IDN compatible, when I started buying a year ago IDN domains showed as punycode.
3. Japanese in Japan don't type in URLs because they are bad at spelling in English (I think this is a worldwide known fact) they type the domain or site name in Japanese to search for it. I've watched every single Japanese person I know in Japan do this.

Many don't know about IDNs yet we all know this. After IDN sites are developed people realize they are available. We know full well it's not a quick return, just like people who invested in domains in 1995 or 1996. Were they getting the offers they could get now?

Many companies already have IDNs Microsoft, Coca Cola, Nike, Adidas, Yahoo, most of the Japanese financial companies etc. These companies have kept some of the best IDNs for their market for years. They didn't do it because they thought it was a fad, they kept them because they realize these are the best way for Japanese to access their brand, or products.

The same ideas that apply in English, Apply in other languages.
We are not trying to convert people, most of us just don't want to see inaccurate stereotypes about what we invest in.

Most technologies are working hard towards being IDN domain friendly.
People who are not comfortable with English can always see the benefit,
It's only people who are comfortable in English that sometimes think it's not going to be useful.

Interesting. Some basic information I didn't know or hadn't thought of. Thanks. If the Duck and you could keep from slamming the US and just present these types of information tidbits, what you say would be easier to absorb.

First of all this was totally uncalled for, and I would expect a ban from this.
Second it's lewd.

Oh, there are already google trends for these IDN domains with the extentions not to mention hardcore numbers to back them up with ovt. These will work, they are working, they just need a browser to be able to type them in.

Here is the link to the google trends for a few IDNs

http://google.com/trends?q=%E4%B8%80%E4%BC%91.com%2C+%E6%AF%94%E8%BC%83.com%2C+%E3%82%AB%E3%83%AA%E3%83%93%E3%82%A2%E3%83%B3.com%2C+%E8%90%8C%E3%81%88.jp&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all

Here are the numbers from Overture japan for these domains that I've referenced.

37,211 萌え.jp
48,896 一休.com
17,975 比較.com
13.386 カリビアン.com

Here's a link to Japan Overture

http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/?mkt=jp

Again, I can handle the petty name calling and stuff like that but that comment I've referenced is WAY out of line.

I don't mind busting your unthought of statements each and every time. You have proven that you are nothing but an IDN fan-boi, and your arguments each and every time hold no water.

How do you say "busted" in Chinese?

Yes, the whole World is just waiting for the day when Acro teaches them all to speak English, (not sure why he would do that, as he claims to be Greek).

Another day, another duck poop.
