My programmers are telling me that you will need Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4 installed on your PC. The auction client is a java applet which will not work without the JRE.

You can find downloads for different operating systems here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html

Test your system by going here http://tauction.dnforum.com/client/client.html. If you get a gray square with login blanks, you're good to go.

If you have any troubles with the test, download and install the latest version of Netscape. It works fine without having to install anything.

A reminder: Auction Night will change to Saturday after this Sunday's auction.

That link works William thanks..I'm in

That means; New Auction Start Time 9:00PM EST
for those on the east coast!!

Log In doesn't work for me. I put in User name & password and click Log In but nothing happens.

Duke - your username should be there already - I didn't need to enter my password - it was some kind of default - have another go.

Thanks ED - still no dice. My User is filled in and there is a default password (looks longer than my real password - but nothing happens when you hit log in. Wonder if the spaces in my user name would cause a problem.

Hi all,
I got in - stayed in for about 5 min - then connection lost!
Any tips on how to get back in?
Tks

same here lost connection...cant get back in..

Auction has been cancelled - Rescheduled for Saturday night - too many Java problems.

The applet looked good -- 95% of the way there. Just needs more testing for scalability, etc. I bet it'll be great next Saturday.

Unfortunately I never got to see it. I could never get past the log-in screen. When everything works having the live auctions will be great though.

>too many Java problems.

Too many schoolboys pretending to be java programmers.

Obviously schoolboys - couldn't handle being told what they needed to do to fix it,so made themselves chat admins and booted me.

Bet their mummies still have to wipe their arses.

Drewb, I get the feeling you have been booted out of every chatroom and bar in North (and probably Central) America :)

Don't get booted often.

Just get upset when little boys get given admin status.

They need to get some wisdom.

Why did they boot me? Losing the debate and booting was easier than thinking? Sore brain?

From their actions and comments in the chat, I'd be wary about d/ling a Java app written by them, especially onto a Windows machine, given that their Java app violates sandbox security rulels (Windows ignores the problem and continues to load and run the app).
