Boy, I wish you'd take a look at some of mine. If this were mine I'd happily take $1000.

High XXXX IMHO. I'm not so sure it would receive traffic, but who cares! It's a gem! :D

Reseller: $2,500
End User:$10,000

Also could be a site for Instant Messaging Posters... Like... umm.... if people wanted a poster... of their IM buddy list.... or something.

Yes, it is a single dictionary word although plural, but the bottom line is that it really doesn't have a commercial angle and frankly isn't really brandable as it implies fake. A Gem has sharp edges, where is the edge to this?

I don't think it is worth a cent over $1,000.

I agree with GD -- this domain would be a great name for designer knock-offs. It's confrontational and catchy. Think "posers", "fakers", "imitators". This otherwise "negative" word has a brandable appeal, and unlike the other words above, includes the connotation of indistinguishability from the original (IMHO).

OK, I accept that angle. Problem is with such goods they are generally low margin and don't have big marketing budgets.

On single word domains, whilst obviously there is good potential for search and type-in from common dictionary words, it is worth remembering that are problems with trademarking such words.

It's easier when you add .com to the word ;)

Yes that is true, but if you trademark as imposters.com, then anyone else can still use Imposters, as it not covered and it is part of the language.

Thanks GiantDomains, you are right in the best uses for it as that was my intention to sell designer goods on it. Actually I just got the name after having it in escrow for the last 10 days because of slow registrars. Anyways there are a lot of sites using imposters in their name like impostercity.com, imposterwear.com, etc... Average of these sites make $10,000 a month selling just sunglasses. Anyone selling handbags, wallets, watches, sunglasses, etc.. all on one site probably make in excess of $25,000 a month profit like fractionprice.com

Thanks for the appraisals

Well for a site making profit, I would suggest that a fair calculation of value would be 10% of profit per month x 30 months. So potentially $750,000 LOL!
