Just got this from ResellerClub (DirectI)

Dear Resellers,

Greetings from ResellerClub!!

We have always believed in informing all our Resellers of even the smallest updates or changes that we make to our system beforehand. Going ahead with the same, we would like to inform you that the Renew Grace Period for .INFO Domain Names has been changed to 15 days.

Please note, the Renew Grace Period of 15 days applies only to .INFO Domain Names expiring on and after the 15th of November, 2006. All .INFO Domain Names that have expired before this date have a Renew Grace Period of 40 days.

This would probably only apply to DirectI, since the registry still allows the registrar 40 days to get a full auto-renewal refund.

Redemption Grace Period? Where does it say that?

Sounds like one registrar changing their internal renewal policy. Not a registry change that would affect other registrars.

Sounds like another move by a registrar to reduce the original protections afforded domainers for it's own domain auctioning or warehousing benefit. Similar to what GoDaddy does by using a 12 or 18 day grace period in hopes more names with go to their TDNAM auctions. Sucks how they take advantage of their customers.

Chuck, yeah this is not about the RGP.

Stocdoctor: And that's why all domainers with a large enough portfolio should be their own accredited registrar - for the sake of the protection of their assets.

Maintain your own database, this way you don't rely on the registrar's notifications for renewals.

Not a surprising move. Expect more to do this.

Currently Moniker and Network Solutions have the longest grace periods of 35
days each for .com at the very least. Not sure if same policy applies to other
extensions like .org/.info/.biz, you'd have to ask them.

I remember Tucows' site saying somewhere their grace period is 40. Then I've
seen another thread somewhere indicating it's actually 30, the remaining 10
likely for auction.

So it looks like Directi was talking about their own renew grace period whereas the RGP is left unchanged.

Agree with Stocdoctor.

Right on.
