What do people think of the potential for

I was thinking of developing an information site regarding the opportunities investing your money has. whether it be wine, domains, gold, a start up...

any thoughts on value?

Agree with current value, but it does have the potential for you to develop it. If it's a market that you really want, the economy is ripe for it and the domain can be a good brand. You've got the right idea with asset classes, focusing on non-traditional (read: less advertised). Take a look at ZH (you'll find it)....there is your market.
