For new domainers, the topic of domains can look initially easy but once you get into it you realize it is actually incredibly deep with shadow areas and exceptions as the rule.

The role of "Domain Name Portfolio Manager" is also something a little unknown.

I posted a blog post The unsuspected role of Domains Portfolio Manager about what it is to endorse this role, the concepts and challenges of domain name management.

This is between notes, knowledge sharing and strategy explanation on the topic of domain names.

I explain my strategy (registrar portfolio) along with the challenges I'm facing (registrant and compliancy) and risks.

I learned those things from battle field experience and I think they would benefit some of you :)

Not a full time role for sure but I think you underestimate what it takes to manage hundreds of domains in a company (and beyond purely renewal activity). But I’m happy to get also this challenging feedback which force me to reconsider my convictions.

(and if you’re in this position, please share me your secret for doing it effortlessly and painlessly)
