I have a question about domain name appraisal, and since it says this is for appraisal discussions I wondered if it's the right place, or if this is only for discussing particular names put up to be appraised.

If it's not the right place, perhaps someone would be kind enough to point me in the correct direction so that I can ask my question.

Thanks. :)

This is not the right place. This is for domain appraisals only.
Go to the platinum lounge and post your message there. Or the help wanted area.

Oh, thanks, Parilis. So I'm not the newest any more? :)

Well, here goes: I just regged two names. One is a single dictionary word .com whose meaning is hard to grasp, and the other is a two-generic-word combination .com.

Is the single word .com always going to be worth more than the two-word .com, even though it might not mean as much to people as the two-word one?

I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a sort of collection mentality going on among domainers, where names are collected without any great regard for their sense or usefulness. Or is that one of the points of the exercise?

I think you need to read rules first.
Domain name in title ;)
Also, your posting do not have actual domain name?
If you want to discuss domains in general, post it on Platinum Lounge or Gold Cafe.

Welcome to DNForum :D

Thanks, The Investor. I saw your reply too late. Although it does say Domain Name Appraisal DISCUSSION on the thread, rather than Discussion of Appraisals, so I think my error is justified. :)

Thanks, Copper. I read the rules first thing, and did so again today. It only says to put the domain name in the title if you're asking to have it appraised, rather than discussing appraising.

Anyway, I'm off to find out where the right place is. At least I got more response this time than I got when I actually posted domain names for appraisal.
