So I'm putting together some marketing material and I need a popular person/authority figure and their take on .coms. Adam would be great for this.

We all know why .coms are the best - .com's are the best because they are one of the original 3 tlds (.com, .net, .org). They are the most recognizable TLD on the internet and the easiest to remember. iPad and iPhone even have a .com button, etc...

I need to convey that in a quote from a big swinging dick. Anyone know of anything off hand that does well when selling the idea of a .com over all other TLD's?

You could make any number of arguments.

The first thing you think of when you hear "website" is ".com", despite all possible alternatives such as ".net" and ".org".
The same way that you think of "1-800" when you hear "toll free". But alternatives such as "1-877", "1-888" and so on exist.
You only have a limited amount of attention from a potential customer.
You're more likely to land a sale if their attention is focussed on what you have to offer. Not on doing something as simple as finding you.
Much similar to having to give complicated directions for them to find your store or office.
You could have the most compelling pitch or product in the world.
But in order for them to be compelled, maximum opportunity must be had to show them what you've got.
Remember, the only reason they're looking for you in the first place is because they're considering doing business with you.
If they can't find you, you can bet they'll be able to find your competitors. And there's a very good chance that they're using a .com as well.
