Not surprising. Just yesterday we were discussing how some years back everyone had a Geocities or Tripod website and so many of those have been abandoned. It's so cheap and easy to put up a personal webpage these days, particularly with Wordpress where it's so easy to update - why not do it?

Hmmm..maybe I should buy my son's name in case he does turn out to be a huge rockstar!

I did that for my kids when they were born :) Common names too.

One of my kid's names dropped in a TBR. I bid up to $3500 and had to give up and say "uncle". The person who outbid me still hasn't put anything up there yet. They sure wanted it badly though - as did I.

I .com'ed myself last summer (short version of my name) then I got a soliciting email saying I should register my full name though them. So I did, through my registrar. :)

Then, for my nephew, I bought his name.com

Nice little investment even just for novelty.
