Hello DN Forum Community members,

I hope you are doing well. I’m reaching out, kindly requesting your support with a research study I am conducting as part of my DBA dissertation.

The study focuses on Refining Domain name portfolio valuation models, including both Web2 and Web3/ENS domains and takes in experience from your valuable selves in understanding more on this space.

As someone with experience in the digital asset domain, branding, or Web3 ecosystem, your insights would be incredibly valuable.

This survey is completely anonymous, takes 5-6 minutes to complete, although the research says 10-15 minutes, and aims to contribute meaningful improvements to valuation frameworks used across our industry. Your participation would genuinely help advance research in a space where academic literature is very limited.

I would be truly grateful if you could spare a little time to take part.

Your experience could make a significant difference to the quality of this study. 🙏

Here is the survey link:

Thank you very much in advance for your time and contribution.

Please feel free to share this with others in the Domain or digital asset, online branding, IP protection, or marketing community who may also wish to support this research.

Kind regards,

Web3 is about as useless as the New.net site; maybe worse. At least with new.net, you could link these as sub domains instead. I see no “whatever.whatever.new.net” subdomains that you can register. And both have some sort of browser extension that you are supposed to use, but will the general public have those extensions? Probably not. So you end up with no traffic. You own the name but it’s like living on a deserted island by yourself. Not a sustainable business model.

They had quite a few “extensions” listed on their site, but their business model evolved into exploiting the users with the browser extension. Will that be the path of web3 too?
