In recent months, new TLD sales have become the top source of income for me and the revenues grow every month. I decided it no longer makes sense to have my top producers buried under com/net/org at BrandsPlus.com so I developed a new site that puts info/biz/us front and center. In addition to sales, the site includes new extension news and resources and examples of very successful new TLD sites.

One thing to keep in mind here is that this site is about "marketing" not journalism. I used caricatures of the old TLD's as a tool to get people to consider the new alternatives. Focusing on your competition's negatives while playing up only the strong points of your own product is a time tested marketing strategy. I think new extension fans will like it, while CNO only folks may fail to see the humor in it. :)

In any case, I will be interested in your overall impressions of the site including design, navigation, features, etc. It was built on NewNames.info but can also be reached through NewNames.biz and NewNames.us.

I think it is a brilliant idea!!!

I would like everyone to visit Duke's site. He is using a picture of
me for the .com. So, he has to pay me a PPC.

I wish you much success with your new sites.

Thanks Richard - I think. I appreciate the support but as a longtime friend I think you could have let me use that pic of you at no charge. After all, HiOSilver is not charging me to use that pic of him for the .net caricature. :)

You're confused Mole. And if anyone needs any further evidence of that, all they have to do is look at the way you are dressed in your picture, which as you are well aware, was used to illustrate .org. :)

Interesting question. I haven't really thought about it. .WS got left behind at BrandsPlus (which will be getting a full makeover and probably a new name this summer). If you had asked me that question at this time last year I would have said .ws would be pictured as a complete skank! But she seems to be undergoing a bit of a transformation (would be a perfect candidate for that TV show "The Swan"!). I actually make a little money from the extension now and hold more of them than .nets (which never seems to make any money. I think the 98-pound weakling analogy at NewNames is actually right on the money for .net).

Excellent site Duke, very well designed and looks real good. Keep up the good work.

I agree about the descriptions except think org is is even better and not just for queens and grandmas. All my org traffic is actually very sexy for me!

Regarding dot-net, yes a 98 pound weakling and the ext I value least overall. It's the only ext I have which gets little traffic (re com net org & us, not counting biz & info which also get little), no matter if the word(s) are good. Except for one notable exception, in that I have a 2 word net which averages about 1200/visits/week consistently week after week, and rarely goes 24-hrs straight w/out hourly traffic 24x7.

Since got at a forum (for a very small cost) not too long ago it has received about 15,000 hits, most all are type-ins. The problem with it is that it's mostly Asian traffic (plus a little from other areas) which greatly reduces ppc income as the site is in English and the ads are non-targeted toward Asia. I have seen other nets which get Asian traffic and recall reading somewhere Chinese in particular value nets higher than coms.

I think peoples' questions have named what .ws would look like lol. A kid. Its young, but picking up a little steam.

Agree 100% on .net. That has been my worst extension along with .biz and .us. In my opinion, the three strongest ones now and for some time to come are .com, .org, and .info.

There's no doubt .org is excellent even for certain commercial enterprises. I'm not selling .org on the NewNames site though so it's not the place for me to make .org look good (especially when I want people there to start thinking outside the box they have been accustomed to)! Same with .com. I love .com as much as anyone (but with today's prices I no longer care for the risk/reward ratio there) .Com & .Org will remain on centerstage on the old site. I have almost no .nets anymore and don't plan to add any (unless they are 3-letter or exceptionally strong one worders), so they won't be represented much, even on BrandsPlus.

Makes good sense Duke, I was stupid and did not not fully realize that was the case re concentrating more on the newer ext., an overall excellent plan for the site.

This is another example how the use of multiple websites targeting different areas is so valuable, and one reason I have many sites myself, as I believe you already know.

Duke, I agree with you. Leave the .nets to the amateurs.

I don't believe I have ever sold a .net for a good profit.

But, as you know, I still pick up a couple .nets from time to time.

I guess I should concentrate more on .info.
(But, you and Elequa already cornered that market !)

No, you shouldn't! I was just kidding about .net. Forget about .info (I'm begging you!) :)

Your index graphics (particularly .US graphic) clearly show your wishful thinking which you're trying to project onto others. Shall I suggest a new graphic for .US ? > http://www.jeffknight.com/family/images/baby-sleeping.jpg

The whole site reeks of delusions and dreams you so badly want to believe in. Oh well, your choice.

Thanks cappucino, but what I have been depositing in my bank account each week are not delusions and dreams. But the longer you and others like you believe they are, the better off I'll be. The competition for names has already heated up beyond the level I like. I appreciate your comments though and will go ahead and put you down as undecided then. :-D

The domain industry is so large that no one person or company could cover all the possibilities.

So, that leaves opportunities for niche marketing. And, Duke is experiementing
with catching some of those missed opportunities.

Will he be successful? Probably.

But, more importantly. He is trying to avoid going "head to head" with BD.

What is also more important to note is that he is sharing to the forum what
he is trying to do. And, some smart people are probably acting on his idea,
as you read this.

There are some very sharp entrepreneurs on this forum(s). You should try to
learn from them.

Also, note that very few leaders in any industry shares their future actions or
intentions. However, in this industry, many of the middle level players
take their time and effort to share their knowledge. (For free !!!)

I learn something everyday from this forum.
