thanks Andy,
I should have asked you, but I did not want to bother. However, I think that the value is not so far from what I paid.
The answers here are pretty clear, I've got no chance to interest any reseller in DNF or other similar forums. But the growing part of the domain market is Germany, France and other European countries. And I can assure you that hyphens do not bother that much Germans (they have very long words and they are used to separate them with hyphens) nor Frenchs (the hyphen is very much used and it is a mistake if you forget it).
We've got a few French marketplaces for domains, where you have more teenagers than real domainers. Most often, the value of the domains with hyphen is the same as domain without.
In a French (and maybe German) perspective:
- New york City is an incredible name.
- the hyphens are not shocking as the correct spellling of New York in French is New-York. And in this case, it's better to have two hyphens rather than one.
- .net is one of the best extensions
So, this is a rare & valuable domain, at least from a French perspective.
Does anybody agree on that? And can reassure me. I did not throw 1k away, did I?
