I believe for a long time there will be no so much type in traffic as many people expect. I do believe the registrations will go to the millions, because the companies whould like to have a .eu extension besides the local one.
But for type in traffic, I believe it will take years.
So typos of this kind , maybe not perform that well in terms of revenue generating in short term.

I agree with most of the experienced professional domainers here who say you should have sold it - ideas of a grander payout is very risky speculation imo.

Like someone else asked - What do you expect to fetch above 10Gs for a typo will likely receive very little traffic for a long time, and with other top extensions still available? (I'd be interested to hear your theory behind an expected increase in value as time goes on.)

I agree, the .com isn't even worth 10Gs.

I was thinking the same. I doubt the person that made the offer realised it was a typo.

Congrats on the offer! You could have taken the $10K and reinvested it in names with better growth potential. There are .eu names with better growth prospects for less money. As the others have said a typo's value is contingent on type-in traffic.

To be compleatly honest, I have a hard time believing you had an offer for 10k... I would have a hard time believing you had an offer for $100. Id hope that you wouldnt make such an appraisal thread in hopes to gather publicity

The fact is... Its way too early in the game for any sensible domainer to dish out that kind of money for a .eu domain name of its class.

If that is the case, I strongly advise you clear your plate and come clean, as a lot of people find this thread very fishy.

Even if there is a real offer for $10k, could anyone imagine one of these scenario's in the next couple of years:

1) The E.U. decides to ban typo-squatting on .eu domains.
2) The E.U. decides to ban parked sites on .eu domains.
3) The E.U. decides to ban online gambling sites with .eu domains.

I may be off base here, but I wouldn't put it past the E.U. to want to flex it's control over the .eu extension a bit by doing something like this. If that were to happen, the site would be worth $10 as a novelty. Other than that, I have to imagine the typo could certainly make some revenue...but $10K?

Nuts, "gambling is a drug" ... they probably turn around and say "domain business is gambling too, you are in risk to loose everything" and ban it too.
