April 28, 2009 -- Parked.com, a leading domain parking company, announced today it has acquired WhyPark, a domain development company. The purchase creates synergies between the two companies by combining WhyPark’s strength in developing traffic with Parked.com’s competitive advantage in monetizing traffic. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Parked.com’s acquisition of WhyPark offers several advantages for WhyPark customers including a new premium top-tier feed for offering the highest revenue effective immediately. WhyPark customers will also receive:

• Keyword selection expertise to maximize revenue and click-through rate (CTR)
• Experienced staff to optimize domain names for maximum revenue
• Payment twice a month
• Payment options for PayPal, direct deposit, check and international wire
• 10% referral programs

WhyPark (www.whypark.com), an innovator in the domain development space, recently launched a rapid site development platform which allows its customers to create custom sites in minutes, earn revenue through flexible opportunities including cost-per-action (CPA) and cost-per-click (CPC), and attract search engines, advertisers and visitors. WhyPark's suite of premium services is also available for the highest level of content development and SEO for the more advanced domain name investor. In a recent Domain Name Wire survey, WhyPark was voted the best parking alternative.

“Domainers are looking for new options and services to help increase their ROI,” said Donny Simonton, President of Parked Technology Services. “The WhyPark purchase offers new such opportunities. The combination of Parked.com’s proprietary technology and WhyPark’s rapid site development will offer immediate unmatched added value to WhyPark clients. WhyPark’s domain development technology will also be integrated into Parked.com’s services in the coming months providing new services for Parked.com clients. This is a definite win for Parked.com customers.”

WhyPark Founder and President, Craig Rowe will remain with WhyPark and continue to be very integral in the future development of WhyPark.
“The WhyPark acquisition is fantastic for current and future WhyPark customers,” stated Craig Rowe. “Backed by the financial strength as well as the technology and capability of Parked.com, greater opportunities are now available for WhyPark customers. I am excited and confident with the future of WhyPark.”

WhyPark clients will continue to utilize their existing administrative interface. No changes will be required by current WhyPark clients. Wow!

Looking for good synergy to come from this acquisition. (Especially looking for better parsing of domain topics, to reduce the creation of irrelevant ads/links/articles in both services.)

Good luck with the transition.

sounds like good news

are there any plans to merge the two different platforms or intergrate them in some way for current parked.com users who "don't" have whypark accounts?

Thanks

It was announced today that Parked.com purchased WhyPark.com.

This has been in the works for a while.

Craig Rowe will remain with WhyPark.com .

http://blog.whypark.com/2009/04/parkedcom-purchases-whypark.html

This is a smart move for Parked and WhyPark.
With Parked reaching it matured level and with all of the discussions about the future of Yahoo,
Parked is attempting to move into the next level of evolution of monitizing bulk domains.

One of the signals this was in the works was the announcement last week that WhyPark was elliminating setup cost.

Good luck to both companies.

How quickly will the other ppc companies move in this direction?

I applaud Donny and Parked for fast action to become part of the trend of minisite generators.

Certainly Parked can feel the change in direction and to become part of that change is commendable.

Sounds good to me too. Congratulations for both. Parked.com had been growing like crazy.. I think at the expense of DS and others...

Mergers are never good. Fewer options - closer to monopolies. Parked.com already has a fully custom tool, enabled selectively. This appears to be a strategic acquisition move in order to eliminate a growing opposition.

Acro - What do you mean? You want to pull RSS feeds from other locations to your parking page?

smaller companies will have a harder tie to survive. They won't get the right feeds and now Whypark.com can get the ad feed from parked (yahoo), so the users of whypark might actually gain from this.

This is great news and will be a big improvement for WhyPark. WhyPark is now free to host unlimited domain names. They did charge $100 for 100 domain names. Upgrades to your WhyPark account are available for a monthly fee.
