I have heard Elequa has stopped using Pool.com as of today because of their new auction system.

They just lost $$$,$$$ a month.

I believe BuyDomains has also stopped bidding.

All they have to do now is bid elsewhere and Pool will be history.

As long as pool keep catching the good names, and they have 2 customers left who have money, they will continue to produce a good bottom line. This is obviously a bit of an overstatement, but my point is, most of the customers they will lose because of their greed, are not big spenders who purchased alot of names anyway.

Cayman and BD do not alway go after the same names.

And, there were alot of occasions in the past where it was only BD, Cayman and myself bidding.

If I am not actively bidding anymore. (I'm sure Pool doesn't care.)

And, if BD and Elequa are curtailing their use of Pool. It shouldn't take long
for Pool to reconsider their auction strategy.

I just hope it takes long enough that they loss the edge for good and the power goes to Enom and Snapnames.

Yes there will be a lot less $60 names and niche names on pool's grab list everyday, but that willl just give them more power(increase their chances) to get high profile names each day. Which are the names that the big spenders want anyway.

If there is less customers overall, then pool will start losing the registrars(they will switch to snap) and pretty soon it will be like namewinner...

Well the thing that fuels pool's greed is speculator greed. So if what you are all saying about pool going tits up before long is true, then it can also be said that the big spender speculators are not greedy. This would be great. I guess we'll see.

I'm certainly not a major player, but I'm cutting back. You end up bidding against yourself!! I paid $81 for a domain and I'm pretty sure I was the only bidder. I'd have gotten it for $18 at Enom or $60 at Snapnames.

Yes, it takes a fool not to realise what Pool is up to.

Just pray you don't bid a couple of thousand bucks for a name you were the only bidder on.

Suckers, bleed your wallets :-D

There aren't very many decent names dropping these days.
Vastly different landscape now than 1-2 yrs ago.

Pool got me homeo.com recently. And there is a HUGE market out there for Homeopathic Medicines. I am no fan of pool but use their service because they are better at grabbing good domains than most other players.

+++++++++++++++++++

That could change, especially if SNAP's new auction format makes it able to pay more money to its registrar partners..

On the contrary, pools greed is fueled by the knowledge that it has seen financial prosperity in taking advantage of the people who see the dominance it holds through it's backorder services. Speculator greed?? Perhaps, but the term "lunacy" could also fit the bill to some degree.
