I have a hard time pricing .us domain names. I live in Canada, but I get the feeling .us is an extension rarely used in the US.

Up north I see .ca domains being used everywhere... billboards, TV commercials, ect. I'm not sure the same can be said about .us. Anyone in the States care to comment?

Back to your domain, I would price it at mid $xxxx, though I have very limited knowledge of this extension and how often it is really used.

Hi James, thanks for pointing that out. Yes I own it and I have all my names in that account private. I just "unprivated" my information. (if thats a word) I didnt even realize it was privatized.

.us SHOULD be a great extension but it still doesn't seem to have taken off well. I rarely see any good sites with .us

it can't sell for $50k IMO, just because someone decided to buy pizza.com for $2,6M. Only 2 sales were completed at above $50k (video.us and sextoys.us) in all history of the .us TLD(even though there might have been private sales that we dont know of)

My guess is $20k max to end user, $5-7k to reseller

it's a common mistake resellers make with this sale all the time. like chinese whispers.

i agree they can't be compared, but does work well with extension because of the 'us' and 'u.s' angle

I'm sure there is an end user out there in the world that would pay $10M for pizza.com . But you dont see anyone appraising the domain at $10M.

and when we appraise domains we state what we think it will sell for to an end user. It doesnt mean that an enduser who will pay 10x more will not come and buy it

With sextoys.us there is something weird that I can't explain actually.

NameBio shows a December 06 sale at $51k , and DNsalesprice.com shows a $15k sale in Jan 07 ... does anybody know what really happened there?

actually, i totally agree.
think i was little top heavy on enduser potential, just i see it as very brandable, even with the .us 'us'

at minute there are many things i would rather put 5k towards in domain terms i agree, you wouldnt want to tie it up in a .us as a domainer
