In the end its up to you - so why dont you decide what to do.

I don't think I would be very happy if a PM I sent to someone was made public.

Unsolicited sales PM is spam in my books. If DNF forum rules state this is not allowed... well then Adam as owner can do as he sees fit - including posting the offending message. Add in the cheese factor of it being the .co.uk version of a domain name nobody else is using but him. and i can't help but not feel sorry for anything that comes of the person sending the sales pitch.

EDIT - sure enough it is written in the forum rules: "6. Do not PM spam. You should only PM to reply to a PM sent to you, or to answer a post that has requested a PM response."

Not to split hairs - but please further explain the meaning of this then:

What the heck does that mean? If the sender sent Adam a PM - could it not also mean - that he (Adam) should have only replied via PM to the PM sent to him?

Regarding spam - the definition of 'spam' then is any unsolicited mail? Because I think many of us get them all the time from other members that might think we may be interested in a particular domain or a variety of other reasons.

I think the original pm was out of line - but I think the posting of that PM on forum inappropriate as well.

I am not arguing whether the pm he received is spam or not - or what he can and can't do as owner of the forum.

I am merely stating that posting it was inappropriate and could be construed as such based on the wording of the badly worded "You should only PM to reply to a PM sent to you".

And thats my input on it - as it was thrown out to members as a thread to reply to.

This is my opinion as well. I see some people here are overreacting.
When you are sending e-mails asking webmasters if they are interested in your domains or not, are you expecting these unprofessional feedbacks?
He is a domainer, he is after a potential sale and DNforum is not a UK TM right, or not even a TM at all?

- The people the offer made , I understand that my site is getting stronger everyday , people may even reg the typos and maybe one day some newbie would even try to sell me "dnforum.lk".I sometimes receive a short responce to my sales email that just hits in the nose : "No,thanks"
- If I were the seller , I would think what I am trying to do cause dnforum is the forum of domain professionals , if it was needed it would have been regged before.I am newbie when it comes to domains and domaining helps me understand that I am not that clever as I thought before , I find an idea and say "wow" and when I check I see that they were all gone before , there are a lot of people like me outside and I am not the chosen one .

And Imo posting a Pm without stating the sender is ok , cause if the pm is send to me , I am also the part of the conversation.

in terms of CCtld, .de and .co.uk are the most widely used extensions. dnforum owns the .de version(or atleast its forwarded to dnforum.com) so its not a bad idea to own .co.uk version as well.
i would say offer him a reasonable price

If dnforum is not trademarked, then I think it's it was ok pming and asking.

If you trademarked the name, then tell them that and they better let the name drop or hand it over. If it's not trademarked, and you want it make a offer. And if you don't, then just tell them you don't really don't have a use for it.

And to say they will only send traffic to the .com, may or may not be true depending. On how good it is and how much different it is, it could be built into a fairly good site in it's own right. Serving the uk even better, and dealing with .uk domains more so then this site does.
